Wish him all the best, a big hearted player. Shame he didn't come to Spurs earlier in his career. He'll be joining up with Agents Jol, Berbs and Bent just in time to put another nail in the Goons coffin.
Good player for us but glad to see him go. Think he's been nowhere near the quality we need this preseason / last season.
"Do you think Jol is becoming the Spurs manager again, bit by bit." I love Spurs B(MJs) team. Spurs B(MJs) team loves me.
That is an excellent point. He was so good in his first season and I think you've just nailed what the difference was. Parker is just going to look like part of the problem with the industrious, slightly bland midfield we now have. But amongst skillful midfielders he's just what we needed at the time, especially what with Sandro being injured for large chunks. 4m for us and a three year contract for him? Looks like everyone's a winner. Funny that out of that excellent team from two years ago we now only have Lennon and Walker likely to play for us now - arguably two of the weaker links. I'm getting worried about the future. Is it just my age? Or is it the memory of Chadli's limp backheel to no one yesterday?
Had to think a bit about Parker last season. Was easy to be knee-jerk, but sometimes the strength is in the combo, where the whole is stronger than the sum of the parts. CBs traditionally epitomise this. So Parker/Modric seems to have been one such combo. Corluka/Lennon was another.
Parker did play well with Modric, because Modric always wanted the ball, always made effort to be available to Scott, because he wanted to run games. I do not see this in Dembele, not enough urgency, he lopes around too much without the ball, and doesn't want to run a game. I think he's on borrowed time when Sandro is up to speed, he and Paulinho have got designs on being Brazils pair for Rio and I think was a part in Paulinho coming here. Capoue was lively, and put himself about, need to see more of his distribution myself, but the upshot is when all are fit, at least one of them has to sit out, and I've made my choice.
