Osvaldo was probably the preferred choice over Damiao.

Debatable, but even if that is the case, Banega was undeniably a top target.

Not denying Banega was a top target but even so, Lovren, Wanyama and Osvaldo were also top targets so don't have much of an issue with Crook's tweet (for once).

Let's be honest how many of us back in May really expected us to splash over£30 million!

Yeah, had to spend defence wise, and players of any quality generally start at 10 million these days (naturally, there are exceptions)

You might not have an issue with it, but if Banega was a top target then the statement "Pochettino lands his three first choice targets" is factually incorrect, either because there were more than three (some of which we didn't get) or because some of the ones we signed weren't first choices. I don't know if Crooks is trying to erase our failed bids from history or if he's just forgotten about them. Either way I'd expect better, even from him!

Fulham have signed Scott Parker on a three-year deal.

Ha! Told you he was in favour of Fulham over QPR. That's twice Redknapp has been rejected. :1980_boogie_down:

Good signing for this year. Parker turns 33 in October...not quite sure that they'll be happy paying the money when he's 35.

No Cabaye for Newcastle tonight - rumours are his head's not in the right place after a bid from Arsenal.

If we're genuinely in for someone who can play LB/CB, it'd make sense. Bit harsh on Jos, but he's likely to see his playing time decrease pretty significantly, whereas he'd be a mainstay at the Championship level.

Given your connections, I'm going to have to assume that Martins Indi is currently signing the contract, a process that should take an hour or two if he uses his full name.

Also, good god would that be a nice way to wrap up the transfer window.
