    Dear Mr Thompson

What will the name be on the kit badge, the front of the programe, football results on the telly, the football results and any fixture lists etc produced by the Premier League, the FA et al and in all media publicity in general?

Do I recall you being full of 'Hull City Tigers' only a short while ago?

If you compare NT's email to Peter Saxton with his previous statement/s, it's obvious that there was (and is) just cause for doubt over AA's re-naming plans

Sick of it. Premier League safety and some marquee signings will probably sort it out.

I'm against any name change, but priorities are staying in the league. Whatever goes on off the pitch can be sorted out in due time.

Looks like the pressure's having some effect. Well done to all that push.

We need to keep it up though.

Certainly good to see that we may have created enough pressure.

Like DMD said above, we need to keep going and not slow down.

NT has not said that we will remain Hull City AFC, just that we will be Hull City.

There was no confusion, no ill thought of comments from the chairman, the plan was and will remain to change the name registered with the FA to Hull Tigers. The evidence if needed is in the statement from the FA, they understood just as many on here did at the time that there is a clear intent to change to name of the team.

Nick Thomsons assurance will be tested soon. I believe that there is a real difference of opinion in the higher levels of the club, with the owners wanting change that is being resisted. The message from Assem Allam on Look North, was not aimed at the fans, it was squarely aimed at NT. "you can call the team what you like but I own the club". There will be an under current running through the corridors of power at the KC on Saturday, when the themed areas are seen for the first time by the fans and I suspect the owners. NT will have to think on his feet, before the whitewash comes out.

Interesting (but not new) view of the issue, here:

    http://twohundredpercent.net/?p=23917

NT: "The badge is on the shirt; it’ll be on the shirt next season. I think sometimes people try to make a story out of the flimsiest of pretexts." - so why will there be 'consultation' on the new design?

Ehab Allam, meanwhile, stated that, “We have dropped the AFC as it is something which has become redundant. It is not used by the club, the fans never mention AFC, nor do the media. The identity of the club is the Tigers, the stripes, and the colour scheme of amber and black, which remains.

Thanks on behalf of all HCFC fans, Peter, for your persistence and rigour in this matter.

A job well done (almost) - as we still don't have the absolute certainty this nonsense has been put to bed.

Funnily enough, I was just about to post this - I got exactly the same response, copied and pasted from my email:

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write to us, detailing your views in respect of the issue of our Club’s name.

As we have said previously, there are two distinct entities; the business and the team. The business was refreshed in the spring of this year and now operates as Hull City Tigers. The team, and all playing matters, will continue to operate as it always has done; we are Hull City.

For me personally, "City" is the key element that links the traditions of our Club with a future that has been shaped over the past two and a half years. I am looking forward to our first home game back in the Premier League on Saturday against Norwich.

I believe we have had a great summer which now sees us well equipped for the season ahead; a season where we will do our utmost to see Hull City retain Premier League status. We have strengthened towards that ultimate aim this week, with the signings of Tom Huddlestone on a permanent transfer and Jake Livermore on loan, and the coming season promises to be a special one for everybody associated with the Club.

If there has been any lack of clarity in our communication that has caused confusion, then I am sorry, and I am happy to clarify that our playing identity remains Hull City, and will continue to do so.

    Yours sincerely

Neither email replies (the same content) put the matter to bed, IMO. If AA is so keen on his PR skills, he should come out and give a definite response to clear up the problem.

We do need a clear, public statement to come out. What NT said above doesn't fit in with what the media are calling us. Plenty of outlets have been referring to us as HCT already.

Doesn't Sky name us as Hull City FC/AFC - as does the BPL?

Sky just call us Hull City. Sometimes just Hull.

This was paper / board outside pub.

I can check the EDP to see who Norwich are going to play.
