No way. We won't sell Michu because he is literally priceless. We cannot get anyone of the same calibre, with the same established playing relationship in the team, anywhere.

£25m may be a reasonable price to pay, but it's not a reasonable price to sell at. We won't let them have him.

It's not going to happen, there's something not right at the Emirates, regarding funds? And you don't need to be an accountant either to spot it, they haven't spent since the Thierry Henry days!!....................... <ok>

It all seems a bit weird doesn't it ?

Michu isn't even a striker ! ..<laugh>

Im sure he would be thrilled at being signed to play in the position he doesn't enjoy ! id like to think Michu is a loyal bloke, more to Laudrup than us I suspect but none the less I think he is one of the few with some integrity in football and like Laudrup I think his word carries some weight.

He is big pals with carzola though and that might be a pull, but overall this just points to a few things on the Arsenal end.

1. Michu is 3rd choice for them now, I guess that wouldn't really install confidence in Michu would it?
2. Michu doesn't like to play as a striker and his favoured position is taken by carzola.
3. Arsenal smell a bit desperate and don't seem like a club on the move in terms of ambition.
4. Even Arsenal fans are getting worried something strange is happening to the club at a higher level.
5. Do they really have the money? they apparently baulked at paying £10m for Ash .
6. Huw Jenkins isn't gong to be willing to play ball on this one and we don't need the money
7. Both Michu and Ash are under contract and I suspect that Laudrup will be persuasive in wanting them to stay

Its all been about Arsenal wanting but nothing from us saying get stuffed we aint doing business !! why should our club take the time and effort to get its business done early just so the likes of Huw Jenkins and Laudrup to start all over again 1 week from the window closing? I can 99% gaurentee that Huw and Laudrup will not want to play ball on this one at all and I also suspect Huws phone will again be getting switched off !!

All the **** that went on in the early summer because there was a flap that we wernt moving fast enough on our targets is to now be undone because Arsenal click the fingers ?? I think they are under estimating Swansea city,Laudrup and Huw Jenkins <ok>

Newcastle are in exactly the same boat as us, in a position where they can just tell Arsenal to do one! its plain madness isn't it ? Newcastle have struggled to get players in pre-season so the last thing they will want to do is sell a key player a week or so before the deadline leaving them nothing to go for in the market.

So far it looks like Arsenal are only bidding for players they KNOW they cant get !

Im not foolish enough to think they arnt a pull for players but even the most callous of pro's would struggle to engineer a way out of their current club at such short notice! why have Arsenal left it so so late in the day? there is no logic and the price will be getting higher for players not lower, its totally strange stuff from them I have to say.

Anyway, you never know in football but it looks to me like Arsenal are heading for meltdown unless they pull a few rabbits from the hat, I hope those rabbits don't come from Swansea though !

Independant's view , which is pretty much a cut and paste job . Although one comment (highlighted) pissed me off.

Arsenal could be about to launch a £35m double offer for Swansea duo Michu and Ashley Williams as the club look to react to Saturday’s shock 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa as well as the mounting criticism over their lack of new signings.

The Gunners finished with 10 men after Laurent Koscielny was shown a second yellow card, while two penalties were given away – first by goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny followed by the controversial decision to penalise Koscielny after he lunged in on Gabriel Agbonlahor in the box.

As reported in The Evening Standard, the side were booed off by home fans at the final whistle, and chants of “spend some f*****g money” rang out around the Emirates in what was another dark day for the north London side.

The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust last night called for a delay to talks regarding a new contract for manager Arsene Wenger with his current deal expiring next summer, claiming the matter “is inappropriate” when the club desperately need to be signing players ahead of the September 2 deadline.

They have brought in 20-year-old striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer, but have been largely frustrated in their attempts to sign others including Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez, Luiz Gustavo, Wayne Rooney and now Yohan Cabaye following a reported £10m rejected offer.

Wenger has admitted he wants “two or three” signings and is now considering moving for a couple of players he has tracked for some time.

Michu enjoyed a hugely successful first season in English football, scoring 22 goals. It is understood that Swansea are reluctant to sell but have valued the 27-year-old at £25m in the knowledge that a bid at that level would be hard to reject, especially with Michael Laudrup still keen to add to his squad.

Arsenal view that figure as excessive, especially given Michu cost Swansea just £2m from Rayo Vallecano last summer but in the context of their other centre-forward targets, the deal could prove attractive.

Liverpool remain adamant Suarez will not be sold this month and the Gunners have not been encouraged to make a new bid.

The Gunners retain an interest in Rooney but with Manchester United equally robust in their stance blocking the 27-year-old’s departure, Michu has emerged as an intriguing alternative.

The Spaniard signed a new contract in January but is thought to earn only £30,000-a-week as a basic wage before a variety of add-ons so Arsenal could offer Michu a significant increase.

The club had a £6m offer for Williams rejected this month but believe a deal could be reached at around £10m. Wenger is reluctant to go that high but the furore surrounding the club’s poor start could only intensify this week should they falter in Wednesday’s Champions League play-off first leg against Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Arsenal’s honorary vice-president Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith joined the dissenters last night when she claimed on Twitter to regret selling her shares to Stan Kroenke in 2011.

Bracewell-Smith wrote: “What a shame the board recommended a Kroenke takeover and paid Rothchilds 3m fee. And how deeply I regret selling to Kroenke. #AFC”

Bracewell-Smith also called for Alisher Usmanov to have a seat on the board and again called for the return of David Dein to help Wenger negotiate on transfers.

“Bring David Dein and give Usmanov representation on the board if we are to have success going forward. #AFC,” she said.

Doesn't matter what we paid for him. What matters is what he's done since, what he's worth now on the open market. And, most importantly, after crapping out at home to Villa (that's Villa not United), what Arsenal are prepared to pay in desperation.

Arsenal have bid £20 million pounds for defender Pogba it seems. So that would look as if they have been told no by Swansea regarding Williams. I hope Michu stays for another season too.

Edit: thought he was a centerback, but he is defensive midfield, so this post can be disregarded.

Edit edit: We can laugh heartilly together with Bardsley at Sunderland instead.

Looks like a case of 'amnesia' to me ... isn't this the same club that plucked a spotty unknown kid called Anelka from french football for around £500k only to then sell him for £22 million? ... as you say, it's what he is worth now and Michu's versatility arguably increases the price ... I thought he was excellent against Man United, fabulous first touch and an eye for goal ...

well i spoke to a prominent person at the club today and they have been offered £35 million plus add ons for michu and ash and a meeting that has probably been done by now with the players concerned about the offer....jinx and the board are saying that its a good deal. it could go either way within the next few days. Laudrup wont stand in their way whatever everyone decides.....to me its 50/50 and i hope the finacial rewards by arsenal are not much more that they cant turn it down.....

If Ash wants to go then fine. But Michu is a different proposition. We have Amat on hand and can probably find another decent CB before the end of the window ..... I hope. I would think 35M for Michu would be about right. Ash would then be a throw-in, which cannot make him very happy.

Dai until the club make it official, it's just an old wives tale mate! regarding the mess that Arsenal are in, why should we help them out at this late stage? all the problems at Arsenal are down to Stan Kroenke, and he's not that well liked by those at the top or by their fans, and it's a shame that Arsenal’s honorary vice-president Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith was talked into selling here shares to Kroenke, the guy is just a money grabbing parasite, with no interest in the clubs advancement!..............<ok>
