There's 'silly' & then there's downright ridiculous. Since when did United start making daft bids for players btw? You always used to get your deals done quickly & they'd be announced before any of the 'haggling' was known about. This window you've made a couple of extremely public & highly clumsy bids for Fabregas & this nonsense.
Maybe due the inexperience of Woodward...? Gill would have done this quietly and successfully. I blame the Glazers myself in trying to save a few quid. FFS I cannot the point of haggling. It is only a few millions, it is not going to make a huge difference to the finance of the club and there is no point in antagonising a club which we have had good relations with in the past. On the issue of not needing to sell. Remember the players are a diminishing asset past a certain age. Once they reach a certain age it is quite difficult for them to achieve the same price as when they were 26. OK it may be difficult now to replace Fellaini and Baines with the same quality of player for £35/40 millions but in 2 years time, both may be worth only 15-20million. Then you will still need £35-40 million to get the quality. Have you got that sort of money to spend to keep you at the same level. The likes of the Chavs, City, United, Arsenal and even the scousers (of the red variety) can afford to write off these massive amounts of depreciation. I just wish United would get on with it quietly and do a deal which satisfies both parties...
tbh we are not far, Baines is worth 12m given he will be 30 in one year now Fellani can be around 20m, so 28m (+add on) is not far from what both worth really
Your point about the depreciation is right in the case of Baines, but he's not yet 29 & we could get another 4 or 5 years out of him, so I'd rather him stay, irrespective of the cash on offer now, as he's such a key element to our side. The same doesn't really apply to Fellaini who's still young & has 3 years left on his contract, we could sell him next summer for much more than you've currently offered today, after having had another season out of him I think the decent relationship (behind the scenes) between the clubs was soured by the tapping up of Moyes & this has curdled it, I think it's safe to say the 'cosy period' has ended mate
It is, so just leave it ffs, no-one with a good knowledge of the game outside of the United fanbase would agree with that nonsense & it's not going to ****ing happen at that level anyway, so let it lie.
He was going to be out of contract anyway. So I don't think anything wrong was done. Your owner accepted that.
Not behind the scenes he ****ing never. Moyes move had been on for months, & neither United nor Moyes himself chose to share that with Kenwright, which was poor form all round.
We should have just put on a sensible bid, this halfhearted transfer business is not our style. Also does anyone think Dembele will be a better option for us, almost physical as Fellaini, good feet, maybe older but "cleaner". But maybe Spurs are more difficult to deal with than Everton.
why ? you said Baines 20m evaluation was to scare us off and fuk off , so if he worth even 15m last season, he worth now 12-13m one year older closer to his 30s regarding Fellaini, 20m is right price .. when you see players like yaya, Cesc, Silva and mata moved for 24m .. Coutinho moved for 8.5m last season to liverpool
As UTD would do its business on the quiet, how would you know how it did its business under SAF When I buy things like cars/houses I always start with a silly offer, then work up or move onto another. I guess you are not good on the business front then.
So you'd offer a price for a house, as a final offer, get laughed at, & then go back again a month later with the same offer? Your analogy also relies on the other party having the item for sale, if you knock on my door & ask me to sell my house to you, even though it's not on the open market, I'm liable to ask you more than the market rate.......if you made me an offer way below the market rate, I'd slam the door in your face.
It's called "being 28 years old" (there are all kinds of numbers available nowadays). Your current LB did it 4 years ago
Manchester United will make a 2nd bid of €39.5m for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. [ESPN] #MUFC
