When the inevitable happens and we are getting smashed left, right and center and I see Pardew bringing on Shola around the 60min mark I may well cry and vomit at the same time. Its truly sickening that useless bastard hasn't been moved on. Yeah Remy is injured but we should have brought in another striker by now.

TBF the match tomorrow is pointless, its next week the season starts. Hopefully we have signed someone, Gomis hopefully, by then.

Don't think Gomis wants to come, personally not convinced by him, think we'll lose 4-0 there again.

Well anyone will do at this point. I'm quite certain we'll be propping up the table tomorrow night. Think it will be 5 myself.

At times Arsenal were very sloppy. Szczesny unlucky with penalty but he had been suspect a few minutes earlier.
Koscienly was unlucky with the second penalty, he got the ball for me but then a rush to a head and made a second tackle minutes later and get's sent off.
I thought Arsenal were very nervous.

Arsenal just so loose. To be honest I think Wenger has to suck that one. They looked ill prepared and mentally not at the races. Sloppy passing, over committing, just a variety of different sins. Like I say I don't we'll get the same generosity from Citeh. I think they'll be bang up for it, big support as always, new manager etc. I expect a smashing, just a far better side. No sending offs or injuries would be nice

Pretty much this for me - except I thought Santon was out? If so, Dummett in at LB would be the only change

Think we might nick a draw for some reason, they've leaked quite a few in pre-season, although knowing my prediction abilities we'll probably get tapped for 4!

It's not easy predicting City's line up or formation with a new man at the top and fresh faces in the squad
At a guess I will go for

    Hart
    Richards Kompany Lescott Clichy
    Fernandinho Yaya
    Navas Jovetic silva
    Negredo

Subs Pantilimon Dzeko Zabaleta Nasri Milner Aguero Kolorov

If anyone's coming tonight the tram system is now up and running from Piccadilly direct to the ground so it's easier to park up in the centre and have a beer without having the chaos of trying to get parked near the ground and there aren't any away friendly pubs in the close vicinity sadly

Such a terrible attitude to have, using that thought process we may as well just forfeit the games home and away to City, Man Utd and Chelsea just to keep our players fit and fresh.

Seems a good time to remind a few people that football isn't played on paper, if it was we wouldn't have finished 16th last season.

If Hull can only lose 2-0 away to Chelsea then why should we be "expecting a thrashing" tonight? It's just crazy talk. Yes City are the better side (on paper) but we're more than capable of getting something from this game and if we get rolled over by more than 3 goals the players won't have done their jobs and neither will the manager.

**** it let's all get optimistic. Pardew told me he's got a master plan that involves a rubber band, an empty packet of crisps and shola ameobi

When City are two or three up they can bring on a wealth of quality, we bring on that stumbling embarrassment who couldn't trap a bag of cement in Shola. We will get dealt with tonight, the season starts next week imo. The Hull game was slightly different as when Chelsea got the second they shut up shop, they could easily have got more goals if they wanted to. I just hope City are that kind tonight.

Whilst i am expecting a defeat tonight, i don't think it will be a walk in the park for City. They will 3 or 4 new signings in the starting line up and with a new manager i don't expect them to come flying out of the blocks and give us a hiding. My hope is really that if we at least show a bit of fight and not just roll over like we did much of last season. My heart says will might sneak a draw but my head says 2-0 defeat.

<laugh> How is that a terrible attitude to have? You do realise I'm not coaching, managing or playing tonight don't you? Where have I said anywhere that I think we should fofeit the match? I think we should give it our best shot (surely a pre requisite for any game?) but that I expect we'll get hammered by a team who are far better. That isn't a bad atttiude, its reality. No point living in cloud cuckoo land. This is a match thread mixed with predictions - as such 4-0 is my prediction and you know what, there is no shame in that for a team looking at a mid table finish. Who knows football is a funny game, we could win, lose or draw. However when trying to predict what will happen, I tend to look at what is the most likely outcome.

Because you're essentially saying that any team with better players will beat us and that's just not how football works. It wasn't so much your prediction (I've voted for a Man City win in the poll) but the way you worded it seemed as though a hammering would be an acceptable result for you just because we're playing Man City away.

No I'm not. I'm saying when it comes to what you expect to happen in a game, you weigh up all the factors and make a prediction. You won't always be right, football isn't that simple. I expect us to struggle quite badly with Citeh. I expect a lot of teams below the top 7 to struggle quite badly with Citeh at their place, and probably a couple inside the top 6 too. If we got taken apart and beaten 4-0 I certainly wouldn't enjoy it. I'd be disappointed and feel we could have done better. However I am realistic and realise it would not be totally unexpected or a reason to go off the deep end. I expect them to have a large share of possession, to cause a lot of problems and for it to be generally a pretty hard watch for our fans.

Hate to say it but I think we'll go down by two goals. 3-1 Citeh.

    Hope I'm wrong.

According to Robbie Savage Cabaye has been pulled from the squad for the game tonight.

If Cabaye doesn't play then I hope to god that Pardew picks Anita. Mainly because he's a good player but secondly because if he doesn't we'll have another unhappy payer and rightly so. Feel for Anita, think he got a bit of a raw deal last season.

No Cabaye...confirmed. Apparently his "heads not right".

And Anita is on the bench. Unbelievable.
