Peltier reminded me of Mel Sterland, he was always in position to contribute all the way down the right. Very impressive performance. Rudy was owned and outmuscled by Prutton constantly, he showed little space and lacks passing ability. No doubt of his passion. But is he a good footballer? I contest we have not see proof of that yet
Cheers Yeah Ipswich are always one of those teams that always seem to beat us. Really don't like QPR so hope we do them. The way the team is playing this season fills me with more confidence than it did last season
Erm .... Prutton was hardly in the game, the only midfielder making an impression for Wendies was Coke. Austin once again very effective breaking up attacks. We need a playmaker in front of Austin .. badly, and we need wide men ... badly.
A lot of the views on here seem different to mine. Firstly, I have been saying it all summer. We will not get promotion with Kenny in goal, his shot stopping is decent but his all round goalkeeping is one of the worst I've seen, there was havoc in the 6 yard box a couple times that if he just came and collected, it would've been so preventable and easily dealt with yet we have players risking their lives to prevent a goal because he doesn't do that. Then I thought both Peltier and Lees were terrible. I'm a huge huge fan of Lees but that game was not his best and he made a few mistakes that I feel if it was against better opposition they woulda scored, partly at blame for the goal as well. Let their guy head the ball way too easily. Peltier was poor as well, couple half decent battles but going forward is actually terrible as well as positioning. His defending wasn't that good either and I felt he was a liability for us to be honest. I would probably drop Green and Poleon for the QPR game. Green was poor and Tonge was a lot better when he came on, I'd even be tempted to try out Norris there. Poleon was lively but lost the ball every time he touched it I think and seems more effective at this stage of his career off the bench against more tired legs. Has good intent but needs to work on his control desperately, I'd go back to Hunt there to be honest. McCormack was quiet first half, good in the second but he dropped so deep in the second that he was almost a holding midfielder. He gets frustrated when he doesn't have the ball and drops deeper, think we need to prevent this by being a bit better on the ball. Murphy was ok but needs to impose himself more, Pearce was awesome to be honest and very committed but he has always been very committed, played much better. My man of the match woulda gone to Austin though.
I too thought Peltier and Lee's were terrible, shows how we all view a game differently, I also felt Austin did a good job breaking up the play but he does need to pass the ball a bit better.
I agree, Jonny. His final ball was awful. He did however get forward more often than of late, so perhaps he's finding his feet in unfamiliar territory. )I always remember that Ian Harte used to think that the halfway line was the 'finishing line'). You just don't know what tactical part of the plan he's got, though. Perhaps he's 'acting under orders'. Like White, he has to work on his final ball, though. It should have come with the high price we paid for him, but it doesn't seem to be there.
Think we got mugged off for Peltier tbh, no way he's worth 800k. Warnock probably saw him have a half decent game on the telly once though so ya know...
That's also entirely possible. But according to Moscowhite's review of his boots in the latest issue of The Square Ball, his entire career in football has taught him absolutely nothing about football. According to his books, Warnock signed Morison on the back of one good performance he had against QPR while he was in charge. THAT is what we let our best player go for. Didn't have scouts tailing him after that one good performance, nope, don't need that for Neil Warnock. Didn't watch footage of other games that Morison had played in. No need for that for old Colin. Just vague memories of one good performance is enough to get rid of the only player capable of scoring consistently in Warnock's terrible system, and bring in someone who's barely kicked a ball in 6 months. Say what you like about Becchio, one thing he never was was lazy, yet Warnock didn't like his attitude. But Adel Tarrabt can do whatever the **** he likes. Tarrabt showed up to their last game of the season half an hour before kick off, without any indication of where he'd gone or what time he was going to arrive. He'd been completely AWOL all week. How did Warnock manage that situation? Made Shaun Derry give him the captain's armband and let Adel lift the Championship trophy at full time...
Marko, Becchio was lazy. He scored a lot of goals but he was very lazy, how often would he even attempt to close down a defender or chase a backpass to the keeper. In fact, do you remember when Lonners was asked on Soccer am who the worst trainer was at Leeds and he responded Becchio. I think another player was asked the same question as well and the answer was Becchio.
Nah not at all, if he is considered as not lazy then there is something horribly wrong with footballers in general in the game.
far from lazy to be honest. so what if he was a **** trainer he gave hundred percent everygame and got battered about for 90 minutes
I hated the way he used to frogsplash all the time lol but not once did I think he wasn't putting the effort in and chasing the ball
I'd agree I was a fan of Becchio in all except his frogsplashing (excellent description btw). I did hear the quotes that he was a lazy trainer, and that is worrying for a player but he did his job on the field well. He wasn't the kind of player who chased back as much as some do getting stuck in in midfield, which I guess can make him look lazy on the pitch. If he had chased back though he'd never have been on the end of those hollywood long balls under Warnocks system, so probably wouldn't have got as many goals either!
There is no way anyone can legitimately describe Becchio as being lazy. He always put in one hell of a shift for the team; popping up to score one minute and then putting in a tackle to save a goal at our end the next. Its just a pity he missed out on us playing propery footy rather than hoofball.
