A bit of an odd comment considering he was born in France, lived in France and played his whole career in France.

Does the same apply to Welbeck and Aluko?

You did well because after the first half an hour it looked like Chelsea was going to score 5+

I still think you will struggle because of a lack of firepower but you showed you can hold your own

French players are the same though aren't they? They make you laugh more than applaud.

I'm probably wrong about Sagbo as I've only seen him play twice and most people seem to be more impressed with him, but I'm just wondering if he's going to be the new Mendy. In those two games I haven't seen him run at a man once. He won two headers today with his back to goal, but flicked both of them straight through to Cech, knowing full well that there was no one further forward than him. I know it's hard to keep the ball against Chelsea, but you have to at least try to.

I've got real hope we'll do alright now. That defeat almost feels like a win.

It's good we got over our first game inferiority complex and got the Chelsea game behind us in one go, and the passing and possession against top class opposition was very impressive - has anyone mentioned that according to the Beeb possession for the whole game was 50% to each team?

I think that game will give the boys a real confidence boost to go out and express themselves without fear.

Ha, agree lol. Looks like Chelsea will be a force this season under Jose! Its probably a good way to start your season in a way, its a defeat yes but it was away to one of the best in the league and you didn't get a hammering. It sets you up nicely for next weekend, which is bad news for us lol

Hopefully we will welcome back arguably 3/4 of our best players next weekend for the trip up to yours... <ok>

Have to say, Ricky Van Wolfzvinkel (is that how it's spelt) looks absolutely brilliant! Will be a tough tough game for us, fancying at least a point though!

    That is right <laugh>

We will have Leroy Fer in the team next week, that's the thing were looking forward too... The bloke is a beast! Hopefully Bassong back in defence, Snodgrass back on the wing and Hooper back from injury and were good to go :)

Sagbo's mobility put Graham's to shame. By all means play the lad as a target-man in a front 2 - but I don't see him as the one to lead the line on his own.

Graham can finish - but can he create a yard of space, facing goal whilst isolated in attack? Probably not. We're going to have to get players in and around Graham for him to have any effect IMHO.

I agree with all the comments about how heartening our second half was and hopefully it will give the lads a bit of confidence going into next weeks game.

Really hard to form a definite opinion about McGregor because he was both brilliant at times and pretty ordinary at other times but was overall fairly good.

The defence started shakily but in my opinion never actually panicked and in fact some of their early problems seemed to arise from their desire to play the ball out rather than blast it out.

Central midfield was clearly our biggest weakness until Huddlestone arrived- he almost single-handedely changed the tone of the game. Livermore was a little loose with his passing but appeared more energetic (possibly due to less nerves), than Meyler. Koren wasn't too bad. Elmo was good for most of the game and Brady very good in second half.

Graham looked lost and bereft of ideas. Maybe he'll do better on days when our wingers are whipping in the crosses on a regular basis. I really liked Sagbo - he held play up well and looked comfortable on the ball. Aluko played well and will have many better days to come.
Hard to judge anyone based on a single performance but I can't help thinking that Proschwitz would have been better than Graham. I just feel, on past performances that Proschwitz would have found a way to fashion a chance for himself. Also can't help thinking that we may still need a striker - Odemwinge?
