I believe you are slightly missing the point here. I was merely pointing out to Husky some of Barton's past as he seemed ignorant of the facts. Why tell Roller to shut up? Is he not entitled to his opinion?
Yeah of course he is....but he is not the chairman...if he really cant stand Barton wearing the hoops (really well at the moment) then don't pay your money and stay at home...
The reality seems to be that if you don't share Roller's opinion on Barton then you'll have to, apparently, justify why you're ok with this player representing the Club. Barton's been punished for his past indiscretions - which I have now read up on! - and whilst those incidents were unsavory I don't feel any differently about him. Yes, he's a turd but I'm not the moral arbitrator of the board or the Club more generally. If an individual feels so strongly about the man then perhaps contacting the Club to explain their anger might help them to deal with it.
I don't think that's the case at all, but I'm leaving this one to the rest of you (as I guess Roller has).
You'd better go back and look at Roller's original question directed specifically towards Watford and myself.
Remember only too well Fly into any tackle without giving a thought, complete nutter I was at Spurs when he half the length of the pitch to flatten Ardiles and get sent off
Yes, complete nutter, but I don't remember people demanding he be sacked. The difference is that Barton is vocal on social media and makes himself a target.
That statement is ludicrous. I was trying to understand where you and Watford drew the line between acceptable behaviour and not. Nothing more, nothing less.
Well, I answered your question openly and honestly. The decent thing would have been to respond in kind and answered mine. No, I'm not aware of Barton's entire background but if you'd just come out and stated your reasons it would have made it clear why you described him as 'low-life scum' which I assumed, quite fairly, was to do with his actions as a QPR player.
My question was general not specific, although I understand why you took it that way; that said I don't actual know where you do draw the line. I am surprised that you had no idea about his history, apparently I'm always banging on about it.
I completely understand Roller's position and stance on Barton, as his history is awful, and he has continued this into his QPR career with what happened at Man City two seasons ago. I can understand why people dont want Barton to play for us again as he isnt the nicest of blokes to put it mildly. BUT, and this isnt making excuses for the man, it does seem his time in France has helped. There was one moment yesterday where Barton was tackled quite strongly and it didnt look a good challenge. I thought Barton would get up and cause a fight on the pitch with his reaction, but he calmly walked away without looking back. I think he is on his last chance for us now, and if he can continue this form and not upset things once again then he will be an asset for us. It is safe to say before this season I didnt really want him to play for us again, but he is clearly committed to the cause, and is giving everything.
I seemed to have forgotten many of his past misdemeanors - that said, I regard spent convictions as just that. So, whilst I understand your point of view, I don't share it.
FFS OP, you're not saying much for his recent performances are you? Could you have picked a more impotent pair to contrast him with? You might as well have said he offers us more than the Tea Lady and Spark the Tiger. I'm not quite sure as to the point you're trying to make with such a comparison?
Swords Hoopster. the comparison I was making was one of desire. Opining that all three players openly expressed desires to play anywhere other than the Championship. The twist for me was seeing Joey Barton's name on the teamsheet prior to the Shefield match. Then observing two fine home performances. So it's all about desire. The delicious thing about this thread is that it draws out so much more. Throw in a conparison to Loic Remy and potentially there's another dimension. So there are moral and ethical standards in the background to debate on. But the footballing facts are that Remy, Taarabt and Granero have all chosen to be away from W12. By contrast Joey Barton has stayed, knuckled down and his performances have been fantastic.
