They're also paid to protect, to comfort, to catch speeding motorists and other crims.

    You ****knuckle.

    P.S. Didn't read the link.

    Yes it is.

    And worthy of speculation too.

We know police in England and Wales try and affect powers disproportionately in respect of football supporters.

The most likely reason for this is to retain funding.

We know that police in Scotland continue to try and affect failed legislation in respect of football supporters.

It is reasonable to speculate that the same motives would apply to Scotch Polis.... I can think of no more likely reason than the one put forward here.

So clearly speculation without stating the motive as as a cast iron fact is warranted.

As to the worthiness of discussing it as speculation, I am a tax payer. I fund this exercise, the result if which is self preservation. Perhaps thick scroungey wastrels might feel differently, but bear that mind when they whine and bitch about how difficult it is to survive on state allowances.

I feel my tax money would be better spent on other areas. So yes, the nonsensical policing of football supporters is worthy of speculation.

My take on it is,in Scotland, police pursuing a flawed peice if legislation ...introduced by the bandwagon jumping snp ...which they don't fully understand . This has lead to over zealous tactics which in turn has lead to increased arrests but not increased prosecutions. Surely that defeats the purpose of providing funding to increase arrest rates but failing prosecutions? Maybe there is a link but I think,in Scotland, it's just ****e legislation.

I wouldn't disagree that forms part of it. As long as you realise that accusations of political policing are liable to get you branded as a hysterically paranoid Taig.

I would also argue that the police are reflecting the sectarian attitude of the MSP's who brought in the legislation (Christine Grahame) and the sectarian attitudes within the police themselves....I don't think that is the primary motivation either, but I think it is a factor.

The bulk of money spent on "anti-sectarian" initiatives goes towards focus. That isn't just disproportionate, it is wholly misapplied. That funding goes, so does Focus. focus goes, so does the legislation....

Humans are inherently selfish so I'd bet on the primary motivation being self preservation.....but then I'm still speculating.

Considering you asked the question in the first place? Oh, ok, you were just trying to stimulate debate?

Come off it Pud, you asked a question to which the answer is obvious to anyone with at least a few working brain cells capable of reasoning, so it would appear that you were being a 'smartass'; or you were perhaps trying to stimulate debate; or ...

Then, having questioned as to whether it was worthy of speculation - to which Reb gave an undeserved courteous reply - you proceed to shoot yourself in the foot by ... speculating.
