yeah but we sh1t loads of cash in the bank , who needs 3 points against Villa at home we are sorted for the season .
AW to the media: "You got what you wanted, you should be happy. Before the start the season that was all you write in the papers so what do you expect?" Sure, the media want drama and exaggeration, but everything that has happened was avoidable and at least partly in your hands. Pretty weak showing.
That's pretty poor from Wenger. The media have got **** all to do with it. We are entirely responsible for our own fate given that we've spent **** all out of the reported seventy million we have to strengthen this squad.
It's true though. I can understand that he's frustrated, but honestly. Having a go at the media just plays into their hands and puts him under more pressure.

I still think Wenger is the right man to take us forward. He has proved his worth countless times and achieved more at our club than any Manager before, becomming the second most successful manager and club of the EPL era. The transfer window is not closed and we have only played one gameof theseason. This year is the first year we have actual;ly had the cash available and haven't had to lose any key players. NOW is the time that Wenger and the board need to show what they are made of. With the new stadium etc iit is understandable what our position has been over the last few years but now that has changed. With the funds available i'd hope we bring in a few key players before the window closes. BUT i think we will only really be able to judge come christmas or even the end of the season.
Stephonson's Rocket was once the fasten thing on wheels. History isn't going to win us games and AW has now clearly demonstrated that he isn't the man he was. It's a very sad thing to accept, but I've done so and think you should too. AW isn't our only problem as I believe the board are equally guilty and we could do worse than have Usamov involved in the running of the club.
1) He claims gustavo chose wolfsburg over us but we where not in for him and would defo not pay him the 130k a week he is reportedly getting now. 2) Who cares if we let RVP go on a free a year later? The club who would have missed out on £25m. BUT i wanted us to hold onto him as well and i think Wenger did too. So i can see what he is attempting to say. 3) He makes the assumption that we haven't signed players because of haggling over 2-3m, afaik this hasn't been the case with any targets so far this summer? 4) Completely agree with his sentiments in regards to the Fenebache game. 5) Completely agree with his opinions of things needing to change (but not neccesarily wengero ut) and about Dein. 6) Love his finishing comments. So 50/50 agree and disagree with him, but he spoke some sense
I think the board are far more to blame. Wenger still picks good players we just don't get the signings completed. Anyone who thinks Wenger is solely responsible for transfer dealings is a muppet. Finishing 3rd/4th with the squad we have had over the last couple of seasons shows Wenger is still capable of performing under pressure (just look at last seasons run-in), but we NEED to add quality if we want to push on from this stagnant position. As far as im concerned Wenger is clearly capable of doing the job, he just needs the right people around him to provide the support.
I agree that the board are to blame. Wenger, although not perfect is still one of the best coaches out there, but his excuses are wearing thin. He's been backing this board, but they have been inept at footballing matters. Great we have a new stadium and financial health, but it counts for **** all if we're losing at home to Villa. For me, Wenger needs the right people around him to get the players he needs and it's not Ivan Gazidis or Dick Law, it's David Dein. This is where the problem lies. Wenger just needs to tell Dein who he wants and leave it to him, so that he can get on with the football. At the moment we have a board who make the decisions on players and who have been selling our best players for the best part of a decade without replacing them. I honestly believe that if we brought Dein back to work with Wenger, then we'd see a seismic shift in the fortunes of our club.
I'm sorry to keep posting on this as I don't want to go from being a supporter to an emo in one day, but... The quality of manager is as important to the team's success as the quality of the CF or GK. SAF would not have been so ready to allow the board (if it is them) to hold him back. He certainly wouldn't take the blame and not speak out if it were the case. Judging by AW's recent statements, he can't be bothered to defend himself so why should I try to? All these 5 minute interviews where he talks without actually saying anything is beyond the pale. I still respect AW the man and I fully respect all he did for the club when he was in his prime, but it is clear to me that his time has been and gone.
I think its difficyult when you've been in the job that long with the support of the board. You have to return that courtesy. So he tows the company line. There where reports that he didn't want to let either Nasri or RVP leave and would rather run there contracts down but the baord over-ruled him. I'm happy with his eye for talent and his coaching ability. What we lack is the support structure to ensure transfers are dealt with properly like when Dein was at the club.
Do we even need an owner? I thought one of the by-products of wenger's frugality is that we're self sufficient?
