He is, but I was more having a go at the fact that he said the Allams are the biggest hero this club has ever had.

    No chance.

I feel quite bad for not being at Dawson's testimonial but unfortunately my Dad was taken ill just beforehand meaning neither of us could be there - otherwise we would have been. I'm sure mine is an isolated case so does not excuse the other 15,000 who made it to the meaningless friendly against Liverpool but couldn't be bothered for this one. It really does annoy me how so many fans clamour for tickets against the so-called big clubs but aren't interested against anyone else. Yes it's great to see us up against the best in the country but I go to support City whoever they're playing.

I'll also applaud any returning ex-player who put their best efforts in when playing for City, (although Dean Marney might be an exception after last season). Let's see what response Michael Turner gets next week. A huge welcoming reception I hope.

No they aren't. It goes much deeper than 'no AA = NO CLUB!' for goodness sake.

Hull City's greatest ever hero was Warren Joyce. Without him, we would've dropped out of the Football League. None of what has happened since 'The Great Escape' would have happened. No KC Stadium. No double promotion from Division Three to the Championship. No Ashbee, Elliott, Dawson, Deano. No Premier League. The Allams would never have got involved.

    Testimonials are rare nowadays.

My beef with testimonials are this.
A player gets overpaid for 10 years (due to SKY etc) and gets far more attention than Joe Public can shake a stick at.
He then wants more attention in a one-off game (regardless of who gets the money).

In contrast, Joe Public gets **** all for working for a company for 10 years (if he is lucky to have a job). Joe public gets zero attention.

My passion is with Hull City and not individual players. Players come and go but City will always remain.

Incidently, I don't blame footballers for earning the obscene amounts they earn. After all, if I could kick a ball I would not be turning their money down. Basic instinct tells us to get every penny we can.

It's got **** all to do with money.

It's all about marking ten years' service for the cause, which is a lifetime in football years.

AD was also with us all the way up the leagues - one of a select band of players.

That's why many past players made the effort to be there.

Money was raised for his charity- he certainly doesn't need or want it.

I would willingly have paid twenty last Saturday.

I can't believe the dumb ****ish opinions some of our 'fans' have- it's embarrassing.

    Spot on.

Andy Dawson has helped provide some great, great times over the past 10 years.

It wasn't about the money or even the "attention". It was about saying thanks.

Barmby was an ok player and a crap manager. Pearson was just a businessman. We're better off without either of them.

I don't see how that's relevant to this thread or my comment. I hardly moan about or belittle everyone or everything, quite the opposite in fact.

    ^^ this

Absolutely agree. First off why give Brown full credit for promotion? I feel he rode a wave and just managed to maintain momentum and has deano to thank. I don't think he is one of our greatest managers because he also took us down. Legends usually are legends because they sustain that level throughout their careers. He was totally out of his depth in the Prem on and off the field.

The **** he ended up doing tarnished what would have been a legendary status.

Pretty sure Iain Dowie took us down. Phil Brown never experienced relegation as Hull City Manager.

So why drag Andy Dawson into it?

Should we not mark his ten years?

Should we let people in for nowt?

Should he and others not try and raise money for charity?

It was a wave that he created when we were bottom of the Championship funnily enough when we felt lucky to have the likes of Otsemobor, Livermore and Welsh on our books.

It's odd that in 108 years of trying no one else has been lucky enough to 'ride a wave', let alone create one in the first place.

Don't tell me-I already know......it's cos Big Sam wasn't around back then.

I said 'the likes of'.....meaning players who were so so and the manager had to make the best of it.

    We may still do.

He wants to eliminate Hull City AFC and replace it with his new puppet club Hull City Tigers
