I disagree. But as someone earlier said so, one has to be sure when you're giving such massive game changing decisions. And please don't say "well he must've been sure, if he gave it." No he wasn't. If we're arguing over it after watching a slow mo replay. How on earth is that bald patched fool going to see it at fast pace? He just whimsically gave that one. Never seen this clown before. But this ref had a shocker. He gave some pathetic and strange decisions against both teams. Fortunately for Villa, he gave them the game right on the plate. Handed it to them.
From what I've seen and heard, he did have a shocker but surely your not suggesting he just wanted to give Villa a penalty? Whether the decision was right or wrong, he must have been sure in his own mind?
Anyone want to put him down as a moaner? I suggest everybody watches all the other interviews, and read most of the comments, the fans are speaking in a clear voice.
I'm sure a couple of our resident ****s will say he's not a "true Arsenal fan" because he has the temerity to criticize the club.
I'm seeing a trend of blaming the ref. You make your own luck through terrible defending/finishing. The team wasn't strong enough, the performance wasn't good enough, and I don't want to see this glaring example of our inadequacies glossed over by excuses. In fact, this guy says it perfectly (at the start):
That's a nice rant, sans the Usmanov crap... "In life you get what you pay for, unless you're an Arsenal fan"
I'll call him a moaner Since all he does is have a moan He also goes on about how everyone knows the problems we have and then lists a LB in the top 4 signings we need. He was clearly a fan pissed off at the loss like a lot of us and so it's hardly suprising he was in a poor mood. He, like a few of the fans on this forum, made the mistake of assuming he is fully aware of what is going on at the club. It's naive and it happens because people are so passionate about the team they can't stand seeing us lose and are desperate to blame someone. As far as him being a real fan - ofcourse he is - the bloke travelled all the way from Belgium for the game!
Although he had the odd point that i agreed with i stopped taking him seriously when he claimed that he is an accountant and would do a better job than our board. Last i checked being an accountant doesn't in any way qualify you to work at a football club in a capacity involved in signing players....
telling everyone that there was a transfer fund of £70m back in April has simply put too much pressure on Arsenal. I suspect that every club has added extra money on to Arsenal targets as they know what arsenal can afford and it has frustrated fans who have seen nothing spent. Where wenger is responsible is for leaving the squad so small...he has released around 20 players and now with 2 injuries yesterday, a red card and the pre season injuries your squad looks very thin
The fans have been desperate for him to sell the players he has sold. People would prefer to see youth playing than the players sold and released. Only Gervinho was anywhere near the first team and most wanted him replaced anyway. I think fans who are moaning about players being sold need to stfu and get over it. This is what we wanted - the deadwood gone no matter what. Taking issue with players not being brought in yet makes more sense, but again, depending on the circumstances surrounding transfers we may have expected to have new faces in by now.
Agree it was very, very stupdi to let everyone know we can now afford to compete with the big boys on wages and transfer fees.
I have to say, that all of these fan videos I've seen - I agree pretty much will all of the sentiments expressed. Yesterday was a debacle, and it wasn't just a one off. It was the result of ineptitude at board level and riding our luck for too long thinking that we're just about good enough. I'm hoping that yesterday was a massive wake up call, because if we don't fix this problem soon, then we are going to be overtaken by the spuds and then the **** will really hit the fan.
But we're now at a worse position than ever in the transfer window to get the players we need. I can see a lot of "conciliatory" and/or panic buys by the end of the transfer window.
We should have got players in by now, but the salient point will be what players we actually bring in, not when.
I don't know I think of late buys and there were some positives like Arteta, but most others have been panic buys, where we couldn't get our 1st or 2nd choices, and just got someone as time was running out.
OK here goes: 1. I have & will always slag off those who claim to be fans but only ever post negatively about the club. Those that can find it in themselves to post something positive from time to time are allowed to post negative stuff without recrimination. 100% negative = 100% wum ****. 2. I have been very supportive of AW and still believe I was right to want to give him more time when others wanted him sacked last season. Even as recent as 24 hours ago I was arguing that we can't judge him on unknowns, but now we know. Now there is nothing for him to hide behind. If I still had any lingering empathy for him, it was swept away by his post match comments. 3. For the sake of the club, AW out. That hurt
His post match comments included an apology to the fans as he said it was simply not good enough. Getting rid of Wenger now would be stupid. It still isn't the end of the transfer window and people are being too quick to judge. It's highly frustrating that we haven't got any new players in yet, even more so when we lose the opening game of the season and half the team pick up injuries or suspensions. But it's too soon to make a decision about how Wenger has performed in the transfer window and how well our squad will compete this season.
Wenger will of course be here this season, a manager of 16 years at the club won't be sacked a few games into the season, that isn't even an option. But talks of extending his contract were absolute madness just a few weeks ago. We still have the season ahead of us, but if things do go badly again, I would at least hope that Wenger stops with externalizing our problems as it's getting ****ing tiring. It's in our hands. Even when he's asked about transfers he brings in Man Utd. and Chelsea into comparison. Stop talking about how "clubs moved too quickly" and now there's no quality left, how we're not alone in not signing anyone, the state of the transfer market, the world economy and all the rest of this bullshit. Focus on Arsenal, and what Arsenal needs.
I and many others were saying exactly this last year and now here you are 12 months later doing it again. You know I have been extremely pro AW up until now, but even I can't defend him and/or the board anymore. It's time for us to bite the bullet and cut him free. As for the apology. If I came up to you and punched you in the face then apologised straight after, would it make it alright? All the apologies in the world, however heartfelt they are, do not change the fact that he is not up to the job any more.
1) He didn't have the money to spend last season and we lost our best player so it wasn't fair to judge him based on that. The point is that thi year circumstances re different - no key players leaving and new financial deals kicking in, plus moving on all the deadwood. We are in the best position to push forwards as a club that we have been in over the last few years. 2) Yes because a random act of violence is the same as trying to perform in a football gme, not achieving your aims and then apologisng to the fans out of courtesy even though it isn't actually required as he isn't expected to win every game. Completely, completely different situations and in no way comparable.
