Have to say, though I wouldn't put it in as stark terms as Peach has, I'm definitely in two minds over Osvaldo. On one hand he'd be a real statement signing for us and he's clearly a player of considerable quality, but I do worry that after Rome he may find life on the south coast slightly less fulfilling and start to be disruptive if things don't go all his way, given his track-record. I'm sure Pochettino knows what he's doing...

Or the more carm less mental scene of Southampton leads him to mellow a little.

Have I read correctly somewhere that Poch and Osvaldo have worked together before?

Osvaldo used to play for Pochettino at Espanyol.

If it weren't for that, I would be dead set against taking Osvaldo. But Osvaldo didn't have any serious problems at Espanyol, and Pochettino would know him well. Also think that Osvaldo wouldn't come here unless he trusted Pochettino to get the best out of him.

Osvaldo said he sometimes wanted to kill Pochettino because he worked the players "like dogs" in practice, but it paid off in match results. That was one of the quotes about Pochettino that made the rounds when he first came to Saints.

I have been to Rome. Let me tell you, that it is really old and a lot of the buildings are falling down. The old town hall isn't a patch on the civic centre, where at least it is safe to watch us parade a trophy. The players wouldn't be save at the one in Rome, I mean there are only three columns left standing, it's dangerous and in ruins. The training stadium is crumbling down and when I went to look around there were a large number of Aussies (they no little about football and less it seems about cricket) offering to show me round and there was also a distinct smell of lions or some other wild creatures in that stadium. On further investigation, I noted some odd images in the city with a statue of some kids suckling on animals and stuff; I'm sure the Ted bates statue will be more appealing to Pablo.

The one issue which won't be much improvement will be all the bleeding horses and ponies getting in his way on every street if he lives in the Forest. He's probably wanting to leave Rome because if the mental number of MODS scootering around everywhere (I thought Italy was the height of fashion, but they obviously haven't moved on from the 60's) and the ponies will be in the way just as much as all those Roman Mods. Perhaps Pablo is a rocker.

Finally though, I am convinced once he gets to our place of religion he will realise just how much the Basilica that is St Mary's makes his current local church pale into insignificance.

Nope, haven't you noticed, FLT..? Even the uniquely uncool British are getting into scooters again. They're the most popular two-wheeled vehicles selling today. Nowadays they are all sizes too, with engines so big that they are motorcycles in all but style.

As for Fox...Mauricio didn't deny that he may leave, so there may be an offer for him. I don't heap vitriol on any player...Fox is not good enough for Saints, but has stepped in when needed. There has never been any suggestion of trouble making or not trying, so I just wish him the best of luck.

Exactly, I was dead against it at first until I came to this conclusion.

And as for Osvaldo being unsettled after living in Rome - I'm sure one thing Southampton has in its favour that it doesn't have hoards of maniacs showing up at training trying to murder him.

Agree, but Fox put in a couple of reasonable performances when Shaw was injured late on last season. For him to do that after his terrible start it must take a lot.

Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers two 18-year-old who started yesterday I would keep fox as cover with long season and possible injuries to players

If Fox leaves, who will Osvaldo have there to compare tattoos with?
