I for one am sick to the teeth hearing about our stats, every year we drop points and lose games that we shoud'nt and then we hear that the stats were nearly all in our favour, absolutely f-----g brillant, surely that in itself indicates a serious underlying problem,we are unable to turn these great stats into results, please its time to stop kidding ourselves, this club in its current form does not have what it takes in the modern game to be successful,to be winners and to continue to be winners you have to make the tough decisions and do what it takes, that culture does not exist at this current Arsenal, there is a lack of emphasis on the on field success from what I can see and it has been reflected in the current state of the quality of squad we have, and also a worry is we have been tagged as a selling club which is going to make quality signings difficult, the only way its going to happen is for the club to go in a different direction and for that to happen its going to require a different regime, the message has to be put out there in a very positive fashion that this club are very serious about being successful.
ok lets look at the matter in the cold light of beer. Villa won by way of two penalties . The referee was terrible and the influence on the FLOW of the game , which arsenal rely on , cannot be underestimated. These are facts that can be , to a certain extent shrugged off as damned bad luck . But the worrying thing for me was . 1. the lack of chances created , i counted about 6 or 7 for the game . 2. Some of those chances were nailed on goalscoring opportunities that were squandered . 3. The Pod at 92 minutes ..really ? what do other people think , and try to be clinically analytical , and without letting emotions get in the way .
Watching the game I feel that many of you are forgetting one thing: the performance. Forget the god-awful ref (and I don't even blame him for the penalty - his angle was poor). Many of your players were lost in the final third. For all your efforts, Aston Villa probably won't write this one down in their history books as a particularly impossible victory. It's obvious you need changes, but where? Do you start at the top with Wenger or do you start from the bottom with the players? Your goalkeeper is eccentric. He's cocky and makes poor decisions. However he's obviously very talented and despite all his faults, he's more reliable than any other keeper you've had in a while. He needs a decent defense ahead of him. Your CB's seem to have poor communication with each other - they're often caught out or making stupid decisions. More time on the training pitch or a pair of replacements? I'm not sure at this point. Individually Kos and Verm are good defenders, top defenders even. However something is missing and your defense was comedic at times today (even before the stupid sending off). Your midfield is not bad but once again needs to read the game better. They must press early and win the ball back faster otherwise teams like AV are going to punish you on the counterattack. Running past a player is an option sometimes, instead of finding passes all the time. Dribbling, outrunning, and moving into the middle are what you can do to counter boring wing play. Today they discovered how to stop Ox. and Walcott and I didn't see any tactical changes, nor effort from the two to change what they were doing. More positivity and taking control of the situation is needed. I've said it before and gotten abuse but I'll say it again. You need to change your mentality as many players on the pitch today had a losing mentality from the start. Ramsey and Wilshere seem to not want to take control and make a choice - they pass to each other until it's too late to start a great attack. Your strikers need more chances and better chances - however they don't deserve them if they keep positioning themselves in the wrong areas. A top striker is absolutely needed for you. How many days left in the transfer window? 14 + 1 registration day. Will you sign anyone until then? Hopefully if you're working on the deals at the moment they will materialise. However, I'm a Liverpool fan so I wouldn't mind if you didn't strengthen either.
This guy seems to have had enough...
I actually agree with him on Cazorla, if we had decent cover he wouldn't ever get in there. He did look knackered and caused the situation for the 2nd penalty.
Lukas Podolski is currently winning the Arsenal.com MOTM poll He played for 20 seconds and didn't touch the ball
Pod should have done a Tevez and said " fack off , what do you want me to do in 90 seconds at 3-1 down . ? kantz ! " or better still , chuck the ball at Arsene and said " you go and sort it out you clown , its your sh1t , you sort it . "
Beautiful, I want to make passionate sex with his words if possible, that nice passionate style sex, the windows get all steamy, and have some strawberries and all.
Its interesting the point you make about making tough decisions. Look at Chelsea when they sacked Avram . He finished what ..second in the league . ? NOT good enough and he was dumped. Di Matteo wins the champions league and that still didnt save his job as he was determined to be not good enough . THAT is ruthless long term winning mentality . What a contrast to the Arsenal board , who seem to forgive all sorts of failure without a second thought . Wins nothing for 8 years and they cant wait to renew his contract .
Lol, love the way this guy describes Gervino:
Don't worry lads, we lost 3-0 at home on the first day of the season last year and had 2 players sent off and we still did alright last year though... Oh wait a minute In all seriousness though, think you do have a decent first 11, but obviously just need to bulk up the squad, something that we've done this year. I'm sure you'll still be there come the end of the season battling it out for 4th, with Spurs and hopefully us
