In your own experience who would you rate? Mine would be: 1. Steve Bruce 2. Brian Horton 3, Peter Taylor
Anyone who doesn't put Brown in is frankly an idiot, and I'm a critic. Look at where we were when he took over and where he took us to. As much as he got wrong and as embarrassing as he was he got a lot more right. He's also responsible for probably our 2 greatest single days. Brian Horton did no better than Peter Taylor.
I could quite easily have made it: Bruce Pearson Parkinson If Phil Brown reads this board, I can already see him asking the Southend chairman to rename the club Southend City.
I think I just felt sorry for Brian Horton, as I enjoyed watching him play as well as I think he did a good job managing and was wrongly dismissed. Peter Taylor also did a good job, but I just didn't like the way he left, and have always felt that he must have regretted leaving, as after he went to Palarse his career went down hill.
