For the crucial calls, Dietrich Mateschitz (69) finds a place where he has cell reception even in the summer holidays on the islands of Fiji. During the four-week formula 1 break, he wanted to make the decision, who mark webbers successor at Red Bull Racing will be. He has done that now. SPORT learned exclusively image: Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo (24) is a new team-mate Sebastian Vettel in the upcoming season!

The rise of the Red Bull juniors to the coming formula 1 weekend in Spa-Francorchamps officially be made. Red Bull Motorsport Director Helmut Marko on sports picture demand: "before Spa we announce anything. I can not say more." A disclaimer sounds different...
It is also clear: Red Bull has rejected a Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso. Both were at Red Bull in the conversation. A change of the Finn Raikkonen to Ferrari as a team-mate Alonso is now increasingly likely.
Red Bull, however, consistently continues the way it has started with Sebastian Vettel (26). The Hamilton was the first riders from the Red Bull Squad, which was allowed to ascend to the top team. Now, the energy-drink maker gives also Daniel Ricciardo wing and his trainee program that still make more sense.

Ricciardo is since 2008 in the Red Bull junior team. Since last year, does he drive for Toro Rosso in formula one, won a total of 21 points. Finally he recommended for the drivers test at Silverstone for the cockpit when he was only three tenths of a second slower than Sebastian Vettel.

He is even better than his Australian teammate Mark Webber with the. "I know quite well SEB," said Ricciardo in a SPORT image interview before the summer break, "because I 2010 the replacement pilot of Red Bull was." I'm Herum mackerel was always in the motor home, tried to intimidate the guys and waiting for them to wake up in the morning and feel well. It would have been then yes my chance to drive the race. Seriously: I was with Sebastian several times for dinner. I get along really well with him."

With Ricciardo Red Bull also a rider who is subordinate to triple world champion Sebastian Vettel. "Of course not just for season", acknowledges Ricciardo. "I also want to win. For this I'm going formula 1. I want to be the best. If however the point would come in a season where he clearly kicked me in the butt, then I'd play by his rules."

This was always going to happen, Raikkonen and Alonso posed a real threat of beating him. Ricciardo will be another walk over for him.

Or it just proves that Vettel is much better than both of them and RBR refuse to have him disturbed or replaced by older, lesser drivers <ok>

They could have any driver they want to lead that team and they still picked Vettel over the other 3 top drivers.

That's a shame. Ricciardo has been thrashed several times by Vergne in races and next year I hope Red Bull realise their mistake. If they were too scared to sign a champion, they should've signed someone like Hulkenburg. No offence to Ricciardo, but a move to a top team should be earned, and he's been outpaced by his teammate more often than someone in his position should be.

Let's hope Luca swallows his pride and takes Raikkonen back. It would be really dull if (along with Ricciardo to RB,) Massa stays at Ferrari and Kimi stays at Lotus.

I think Ricciardo will give Vettel a run for his money however I don't think he will beat him.

GTFO you pleb. Kimi isn't a lesser driver, he'd be at least a double WDC if Newey knew where to stop developing back in his McLaren days, but nooooooooo he just wanted to try and prove he could make a car quicker, the prick.

Ricciardo's a good driver. I'd have taken Kimi. Oh well. Hope he takes the fight to Vettel. To everyone who says Vergne's outpaced him - somehow, Ricciardo's outqualified him pretty much constantly...

I like Ricciardo, so i'm happy for him, but it is a shame that we won't see Vettel tested against one of the real top drivers. From Red Bull's position its always made the most sense, why deviate from a system thats been working so well, Ricciardo will slot into Webbers place nicely.

This does mean we're left hoping for the Kimi to Ferrari rumours to be true or we're looking at a dud of a silly season.

Am happy he gets a chance to shine and that it won't just be same old, same old at the front; it's about time young guns got a chance at the front. Anything else I say will be massively biased.

I still think there's more to come out of this, with more twists and turns before next year's grid is certain. It's an interesting start though.
