Yes i agree, we should have got a DM ages ago. Actually we should have signed up 3-4 players but we didn't. But the team was still creating chances despite our ragged display. Blame our players for losing their heads and not new players that haven't come in.
A really good striker with a sense of when/where the ball will be played is what we need most. As well as the chance we miss, it's the balls played in that meet no one that hurt us. Our midfield is good enough to create chances against mid-table teams like Villa and below, but not good enough to trouble the best teams consistently. Missed chances is what cost us here. But a reliance on overrated players like Ramsey and Wilshere is going to leave us empty handed again this season.
If there's any silver lining to today's debacle, it's that we'll actually sign some players instead of just talking about signing players

Lazarus mentioned that he missed the second, so I thought he might appreciate the opportunity to see them. They're not GIFs, so anyone that doesn't want to see them can just not click on them. Given that it's a match thread, I thought people might want to analyze the goals. 2nd didn't look a penalty, for a start. Naive decision to dive in though, IMHO.
It wasn't naive, it was Koscielny dealing with the situation properly, how was he to know that the ref was a muppet?
The 2nd villa penalty was the turning point in the game. Never a pen and to book Kos and then send him off was complete incompetence from the ref. We may not have deserved to win the game today, but I think the ref did us no favours whatsoever.
Villa do have a habit of beating good teams away. Hmmm. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16324977 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20650106
If things couldn't get any worse: So we're in danger of not being able to field a side for Fenerbahce.
Just got back from the game, apologists, where you at? Mr Toledo Arsenal are perfect and strong? What a ****ing DISGRACE! Today's result shows the flaw in the argument made by so many apologists about how there's still time to sign players, what good is it when we're dropping points? Why not do it BEFORE the season starts to make sure we have a strong start, rather than starting with a loss at home? We have every chance of getting knocked out of Europe by Fenerbache, then all you apologists can come back about how good it is to sign players on deadline day.
A87 - your completely missing the point about transfers, that YOU have literally no idea why they haven't been made or are taking longer and simply saying "oh if they came in earlier we would be fine" is a rubbish, rubbish argument. WHY not get the signings done earlier? We have no bloody clue! Assuming the only possibility is total failure by our club would be stupidity imo. That said i do think come the end of the transfer window if we haven't made a couple of top quality signings then the club needs to have a really good look at how they operate and conduct transfer business and whether there are changes that canbe made to make it more efficient and also capture our top targets.
At this point, no offense, but i could give a **** about anything you have to say when it comes to excuses, yours, and Wengers time for excuses is up. It's time you stop making excuses, put your hand up, and say today wasn't good enough, and it wasn't good enough going into the season with the squad we have, and new players should've been purchased by now heading into today's game, and new season.
