After 10 years Watford FC have not been granted a licence to carry on their fantastic Girls Centre of Excellence. Show the FA that they have made a big mistake. Petition here: http://www.petitions24.com/save_watford_fc_girls_centre_of_excellence WO article here: http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...63635.Angry_Watford_want_answers_from_the_FA/ "Furious Watford have asked the FA to explain âfrom start to finishâ why English footballâs governing body decided not to award the club its Girlsâ Centre of Excellence licence for next season. The FA have this week cut the number of Centre of Excellences for next season from 52 to 30 in a massive restructuring of girlsâ football. Watford have been a centre for ten years, offering more than 1,000 footballers âelite playing opportunitesâ, but were not handed a licence for the 2011/12 season. It is a decision the club claim will have âa hugely negative impact on female football in Hertfordshireâ and is also likely to damage Watford Ladies moving forward". My thumb and eyes are hurting after my post in the Graham thread. I'm off to be entertained by Adrian Chiles, endure 90 mins of England, and consume my body weight in beer and pizza.
Was on ITV london... link here: http://www.itv.com/london/girls-football56285/ "Some young female footballers who say they've been shown the red card. It's because the Football Association is to restructure the way it licenses girls' football with fewer so-called "centres of excellence." And for clubs like Watford - which is among those to lose out - it will mean players will now have to travel further afield if they wish to continue playing the game" But of course the point is that Watford have built it up... it is as good as the ones the FA "decide" to licence.... stinks IMO
The will try to do the same to club acadamies outside the prem as well no doubt!, oh silly me they`re already fiddled with rules there to suit the big boys!
The Football Association's behavior on this issue can charitably be described as morally bankrupt. If everything the club says proves true, there would be serious questions as to whether one or more individuals have knowingly broken any laws.
There was a terrific (literal sense ) documentary on Jack Warner a while back. I think it was on Channel 4. Proper brown envelope stuff. Something I find galling is that they are so untouchable, they don't even bother hiding it particularly.
Do you think the guys that got bin laden are busy SLB ? If we promised them a beer each , maybe they could start with Blatter and work down to the muppet thats denied our local girls! Could take Bassini as well and call it collateral damage!
I was thinking earlier, as much as I love football, genuinely that much, I equally hate the people who run it; on national, European and world levels. I wasn't a fan of Simpson or Ashcroft, to say the least. I hope that doesn't turn out to be similar for Bassini. But the asset-stripping suggestion is a serious concern.
this absolutely stinks, doesn't it? So what to do? Yup, I've signed the petition - but I think we need to do more than this I've emailed the Guardian to see if they'll pick the story up - I think we should contact a few other media outlets and see if they will aswell COYH
