He did, almost got a second, admittedly it was more of a Try (rugby) than a goal but yeah... Dreadful. One of Keano's finest

    Mel Holden?
Anyone else remember"Super Mel"-the cry to skit that fat b suprmac up the road.
Poor mel had MS or muscular dystrophy but no one knew.He could be clear through-and would go flat on his back.Died very young.
Jimmy Adamson manager. We were relegated by half season-then put team togrter and we went on hell of a run-title winning form until end of season losing last game at Everton when bearded chin held back Coventry-Bristol City kick-off,Relegated Long ride back on that midweek
Mel and Bob Leeplayed twin Center forwards and made a good partnership.Exciting football for half a season
Remember Super Melwith good thoughts. Doesnt deserve to be in ****e list
    Anyoe else remember that season/

    Hesford
David corner(own goal in milk cup final
    Dean whitehead
    Angleri
    Claudio marangoni
    Flo
    Kyle
etc, but Paul bracewell ? he was a leader in midfield and scored goals. As for best players in my 34 years supporting Sunderland 'Pop robson', Shaun elliot, Marco gabbadini, Gary rowell, Kevin philips, Darren bent, Bob lee, leighton james, Alan johnstone, Chris turner (best goalkeeper since monty).

Whitehead's a funny one. Watched him for years and I'm still not sure what he brought to the team or what he did in games to deserve not to be in here but for some reason I wouldn't put him in here.

David Bellion on the other hand...

Agree about Whitehead, but he has got to be guilty of taking our worst ever penalty (MG in 98 included).

A question arises from this post, who scouts the player, and who signs them? so who realy in the overall context of SAFC, should shoulder the blame?

It wasn't Corner who deflected it in, it was Chisholm. Corner should have put it out & didn't. (I was in the Norwich end for that game).
