Getting worried that WBA will eventually get a counter attack right. Our possession has been excellent though.
63% possession in our favour. We are playing very well indeed so far. Not creating a massive amount, but I'm very pleased so far.
J-Rod went for the header, and it narrowly escaped him in getting to Lallana...kinda hazy whether that constitutes affecting play, I guess.
Didn't take long for there to be a controversy about a rule that was meant to be clarified by the new ruling haha, think by the new rules JRod was probably offside, but the wording is just so vague still.
DTLW explained that if your actions affect the opositions train of thought whilst being off side, it will be flagged whether you are the intended player or not. confusing.
The new bit of offside (that is different) only refers to distracting/interfering with opponents. There weren't any in the vicinity for Jay to interfere with. It was an error, old rules or new.
Not specifically talking about this offside decision, I have always felt that any player who makes a GK/defender have a double take is affecting play. I think they are trying to sort that out...the result will be more off side decisions this season. Still saying that WBA having no chances at the moment...all Southampton...we all know where this is leading
I think J-Rod being directly infront of the gk with a cross swinging in his direction is interfering with play. They should just go back to the old rule of you're off-side, or you're not. Also bring back the "daylight" guide.
Whisper it quietly, but I think Lovren has been excellent so far. That's a cue for a catastrophic mistake second half isn't it? As has been mentioned, Wanyama is a tank. JWP has been great and Chambers has done nothing wrong at all. All very positive. Now we've just got to not make an idiotic mistakes that undo our good play.....
Apart from the keeper, quite possibly. If the keeper thought JRod was going for the ball it would make him react, would like to see it again but I think Jay either jumped or motioned to jump for it. Don't know why they think the change of rules makes things clearer, now instead of the referee/linesman having to decide if a player is interfering with play, he has to read the defenders' mind to decide if his 'thought process' is being affected.
