Ward-Prowse is playing in a position Cork is not suited to, simple as that. These questions are like asking why Chambers is playing instead of Ramirez.
Because Morgan is significantly better than him, Wanyama probably will be and he'd not fit into any other position in this team.
Disappointed that Puncheon is not even on the bench, unless of course he's picked up an injury. One of our biggest goal threats.
Nice to see three academy products (Shaw, Chambers, Ward-Prowse) starting the game. Prowse is a suprise, but I don't think Guly and Daviv offer much improvement on him. Fonte gets a nod ahead of Hooiveld, that's good.
I would like to see Schneiderlin pushed up the field in situations like this, and Cork drop in beside Wanyama. But hey-ho I'm not a football manager for a good reason. Also I seem to remember some of our most bizarre (as we thought) team selections last year, resulted in some of our better games.
I wouldn't even have JWP in the eleven, guly and puncheon would be more effective as the cam. A good bit of pr for the club but hope he's loaned out to prove that he can do more than run and pass short. Even a few games in the u21s would be good for him.
What a strange response. He never said who he wanted Cork starting instead of and it's not like asking why Chambers is playing instead of Ramirez at all.
Maybe we will see that at some stage, against the big boys perhaps. I'd like people to have a little more faith in Ward-Prowse though. He's clearly got enormous potential and the only way he will achieve that is by playing. Others are questioning JWP's inclusion ahead of Cork. I picked one comment along those lines to respond to. And yes it is, I'm a big Cork fan, but he's no more an offensive playmaker than Ramirez is a right-back.
I'm sure Mauricio has a valid reason in his opinion for picking JWP. He's rated here and I can't see him going on loan at all.
