The Scottish girls family spent their money sending the girls father over, the Irish girls family spent theirs sending Peter Madden over.
Not wanting to get involved in a 10 page debate bonanza but I do feel that is somewhat of a hypocritical attitude for a selfconfessed user of a banned substance. You may feel you are unable to make a comparison between trafficking coke and using hash but really when it comes down to it it all falls within the same remit of involvement in "illicit substances". I dont want them to rot and its not because I believe their story, its because I have a problem with prevailing international attitudes to solving the "drug problem". The hard approach is being proven not to work and causing more damage than a sensible regulatory approach. They have been shown to be idiots and will have learned a big lesson from this but dont feel the Peruvian authorities making examples of them will deter others in the future if the money is right. Criminalisation and imprisonment of those involved is not the answer. Its killing thousands every year, costing huge amounts to the taxpayer when it could actually be turned into a valuable tax revenue stream etc...
I don't use Coke though Jacky, never have, so their beahaviour has nothing to do with me whatsoever. Using your (and ST's logic), anyone who buys - or has ever bought knock off DVDs - is complicit in organised crime and likwise has no right to criticise. Anyone who does not see the difference between me (or anyone else) having a toke now and again, and people trafficking class A drugs from abroad is a bit naive. They got caught and are blaming everyone else but themselves, If I ever get busted for a lump of hash, I would not blame the dealer for my actions.
Av used plenty of drugs over the years and I couldny give a ****e about these two lassies. Drug runners have tfind idiots to be their mules. That's how it's done. Do I care about which idiots do the dirty work? No. Do I care when a drug dealer gets busted or killed? No. Do I believe these lassies were kidnapped and forced? No. Drug dealers don't need to do that as it would be very bad business. A threatened mule would do a runner at the very first opportunity. Easier just to find and fund a gullible idiot.
I use coke but couldn't give a **** what happens to them...they should take responsibility for their own actions instead of bleating a lot of ****e!
Exactly, why would drug runners take the risk of forcing people when they have people queuing up to make a fast buck which is a fraction of the potential profit. £5k-£10k fees out of £1.5m profit? I'd take that business deal every day.
The young Irish lady was threatened at gun point and had her life placed in danger by dangerous criminals Dev, what could she do?
It's entirely possible they may turn on each other to get themselves aff the hook, or at least a lighter sentence. Cos let's face it, they're goin down for it regardless of what claims they make about being forced to do it.
