Mignolet Johnson Toure Agger Enrique Henderon Lucas Gerrard Aspas Sturridge Coutinho Subs: Jones, Sterling, Wisdom, Ibe, Allen, Borini, Alberto
Surprised to see Henderson starting given that Allen had started most of the pre-season games ahead of him.
Picked up an injury and was a doubt for the game. Unless you're sceptical and think it's because he's not needed and a transfer is looming
Probably our strongest eleven with the players available. Pretty happy with that we'll need Henderson's energy.
I think it will look 4-2-2-2 with Gerrard and Lucas deep, Henderson and Coutinho ahead but Coutinho roaming
Although you'd get more out of Coutinho in the middle than the left, I don't think you'd get as much from Henderson playing wide. He'd give a lot more energy in the middle from a closing down/defensive point of view than Coutinho will.
V.happy with that team. David James is awesome at pre-match interviews; not one football question #loveit
I hope Coutinho has licence to roam. Limiting him to the left side nullifies allot of hit threat. Same as playing Gerrard as a holding Midfielder. We don't have an abundance of quality so it is essential we play to the strengths we do have.
Surprised to see Hendo starting, but happy with that. Hopefully he puts in a great performance. Confident we can start the season well
Shocking wasn't it BT have done well getting Jake Humphrey, think he is great, but McManaman, Owen & James are poor and also very Liverpool heavy!
Makes up for BBC Salford who have culled every pro-Liverpool or neutral presenter thay have in favour of Man Utd fans over the last season.
I thought it was great Agree on Macca, Owen and James (although that is the first I've seen of him so maybe a tad harsh). What about Owen Hargreaves?
Advert on BT Sport just then and a clip of Owen commentating on himself scoring v Argentina. Thing was, he was actually far more interesting doing a pisstake than he is when he normally talks
I don't mind McManaman and James, reminds me of 2 lads talking in the pub. Owen may as well not be there, he bores the **** out of me, and for a player who has watched so much football from the bench you'd think he have more opinion.
