You're missing out on an average trilogy based on a good novel.

You're better off watching Pan's Labyrinth and then afterwards coming on here to tell me how right I was.

Pan's is a great film. The thing with LOTR is that they took a great, classic book and to a pretty successful degree turned the pictures you painted whilst you read it into a film. Very cleverly done, but the 'wow' factor dissipated after the first film.

Ah yeah, now I remember. Brings back memories of some pretty sad scenes.

Oh okay, that's fine. Gory stuff I can deal with, unsettling stuff I can deal with, jumpy stuff makes me want to cry.

Nothing jumpy in it that I can think of. There are a couple of creepy scenes, and a bit of gore, but it's not really a horror film.

Well it didn't scare me, and I am notoriously easy to frighten

Should be fine then. Normally things people say are "unsettling" but not jumpy (like Donnie Darko and Shutter Island) I don't think are scary at all, so I'm sure I'll be able to avoid turning into a 12 year old girl when watching it.

There are some horror films which aren't jumpy but still do a good job of being terrifying. Martyrs was just downright nasty.

Speaking of films, I have a collection of Coen Brothers films in front of me. Someone tell me which one I should watch.

I can't really help, but everyone tells me I should watch The Big Lebowski, so I guess that?
