It would be great to get off to a winning start with a great performance, but certainly not a must win game..
Given the tough run of games coming up, the wholesale changes to the squad and the media desire to see PDC fail and SAFC implode, then it's vital we get off to a good start, get some points on the board (cliche) and for the team to gel quickly. A few games without winning and then the run against the top sides could easily see us struggling and PDC under pressure - which the media would love. So it's pretty much as close to a "Must win" as you can get for a first game of the season !
This is SAFC - anything can and will happen ! I said last season I was hoping for mid table no relegation battle. I'm sh****ng myself over all the changes this year and really don't know what to expect !
The Isis a cracking pub that serves some great beers. However, it is the Railway Club at 11 am with my sons for a game of snooker for me. I will then try and catch up with Vinegar Joe and his son Teeside Mackem for a couple of beers in a venue still to be arranged, and after that I hope to end up at the Colliery Tavern to meet up with some of the crowd from Syd's forum..
We have 3 winnable games before the gooners. We could and should be on 9 points after 3 games. Grow some balls x
Pretty sure he didn't sign in time to feature tomorrow anyway. Given the reaction last time he appeared at the SOL he probably hung back from signing on the dotted just to be sure...
Striker Darren Bent has joined Fulham on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. Bent has signed in time to be eligible to play in Fulham's opening Barclays Premier League game of the season at former club Sunderland. The striker was Villa's record signing when he arrived from Sunderland in January 2011 but slipped behind Christian Benteke in the pecking order at Villa Park last season. The 29-year-old will be reunited with Martin Jol, who signed the England international from Charlton Athletic in 2007 whilst manager of Tottenham Hotspur. Jol told the club's website: "Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired. "He has shown in the Barclays Premier League that he is composed and clinical in front of goal but, even if he is not scoring, he is involved in some good link-up play, creating opportunities for his team-mates. "I'm delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season." Bent has scored over 100 Premier League goals since 2005, playing for Charlton, Tottenham, Sunderland and Villa as well as four goals in 13 appearances
I'll take anyone's money here tonight this custard cocked **** won have the bollocks to turn up at the SOL tomorrow. Even if he did I wouldn't be one bit bothered as he is finished imo. I don't think he will get 10 goals this season for Fulham
