Does anyone know if he's got a thing for having that as his squad number?

I'd seen he had it after joining Blackburn and thought it was a bit of a coincidence that the first number available was the same as his number for us in the PL:

Then I've just seen tonight that Evans, who joined them after Cairney has the 29, so it must have been available when Cairney joined them. Is there any particular significance to the 45?

29 is just a **** number. 45 is quite smart imo.

Might be something to do with a year, like when Vito wanted to wear 42 as a tribute to his dad.

It can't mean that much since he changed to 14 later.

Some managers have a thing about not leaving gaps in the squad numbers and insist if they've got 25 players they have the numbers 1-25. Can't remember who it was now but a while back there was a player for another club that wasn't too happy about changing from his lucky number. Then clubs like Real Madrid have the opposite system, once a player has a number that's pretty much it until they leave.

Noticed Tom Cairney was replaced by Corry Evans tonight after 60 mins. Sky have himas playing up-front with Jordan Rhodes. Up front? If Blackburn are playing him upfront they have no chance in scoring do they? haha

A lot of teams leave number 12 or 13 vacant for the fans.

Do you think we've unofficially done that? I notice 13 is vacant.

I thought it was left for Oxley at first but since they gave Cairney's number 14 away that doesn't add up. I don't see why you'd leave number 13 for the fans though. 12 makes sense with the cliche of 'the 12th man' but what is the significance of 13?

DOn't know, but a lot of clubs have left it vacant for fans for some reason.
