Nowt wrong with me. I'm just bored of seeing the same **** about this disgrace of a name change day in day out.
Patty in this case is short for my name of Patrick. my mates call me Paddy, but PaddyNchips doesnt sound as tastey
"Fulham Football Club is how it was way before my lifetime and that is hopefully how it will be a long time after I am gone. A pity the Allams do not think like this regarding Hull City. They own the club at the moment but it will be still here, as will the fans long after they have gone. What if the next owner has other ideas to change things, where will it end?
Well for a start it'll get us funding from the Allams. All clubs sell naming rights. Usually for the stands or ground, but usually they aren't asking for £60m and they aren't on the verge of liquidation. I reckon adding the word "Tigers" which we already used anyway was a pretty good deal.
Bullshit. They took over nearly 3 years ago now. Changing the name was nothing to do with it and you know that. He's just decided now that he wants to do it. Personally I don't believe the Hull City Council conspiracy theory but I do believe he's just decided he's doing it because he fancies it. He just likes making decisions and being the centre of attention. He loves the fact he's now the centre of attention and he can go on Look North bragging about who pays the bills. It's nothing to do with the far east. He might know nothing about football but he's not stupid when it comes to business so he'll know full it won't make us money. He just likes being seen and heard.
Actually, I agree with pretty much everything you've said. I think the Council thing is a red herring. I agree this a "whim" off Allam senior. I agree he feels the need to have a high profile. I think he may genuinely feel it will help with Far East sponsorship, but this was not his prime reason and in any event is a far from proven route to success. There are a lot on here who seem to like the sound of their own keyboards rattling, some young, some not so young. The ones I despise are those who simply abuse you for having a different point of view. I'm happy to listen to reasoned argument, but I don't see why I or anyone else on here should put up with being called a "******" or being told I "don't understand the issue". Mostly, of course, those who do that simply make themselves look stupid. However, and this is where you and I differ, I genuinely think this issue is a storm in a teacup. I will still call the team "City" because I have for the last 50 years, so I can live with "Hull City Tigers" or even "Hull Tigers" if it gets us the financial backing to achieve success. It may be "whim" by Allam, but I don't think it's malicious or damaging. I know you do, so we will have to differ, or persuade each other with our enlightened arguments. I don't think you are a "Thick ****" just because we disagree. You are as entitled to your opinions as I am. No more, no less.
If having a silly name led to untold riches I would support the name change. Unfortunately, I think the silly name will damage our profile.
Fair enough, you have mentioned that before, I think. But of course just as many people think the name change is good, not silly, and think it will improve our profile - and profits. And their views are just as valid and just as informed as yours, Peter.
Apart from a few wind up merchants on here and some vox pop housewives on Look North doorstepped down Whitefriargate, I've yet to meet anyone in favour of it. For the record I've yet to see ONE article in favour of it. A rough estimate would be that 95 % think it's a bad idea or at the very best will not increase our 'brand'. Anyone got any figures yet on season pass sales or new sponsors from the past week (not counting SBOBET of course)?
But what about the history you want to uphold ? you cant have it both ways can you Would success on the field be enough of a sugar coating for such a "silly name" change .
You really think the name change is good? That doesn't seem to be the view of the majority of people. If it will increase profits why haven't all the other clubs in the Premier League done it? Because Allam is a business visionary?
I know I can't have it both ways. That is why I said that if it would lead to a lot of extra money I would accept it. How does changing to a silly name lead to success on the field?
Which is odd, because most of the people I meet think it's a good idea or at worst have no objection. We obviously move in different circles. From the evidence I've seen I would suggest that only a maximum of 10% are sufficiently against it to bother saying so. So 90% are ok with it. For an appraisal of the effect on figures over the last week you would have to compare it to a similar week last year, and that would be skewed by the fact that this year we are in the premiership, this year we are more expensive, and because of the two recent signings. I fear the result would be an upward shift, but it would be meaningless. And why exclude SBOBET?
Are you talking about City fans or people in general? Practically every City fan I know is against it, a few are not bothered but nobody thinks it's a good idea. Amongst non-City football fans, they all think it's silly.
Yes I do. And see my response to "Namechange" re the figures. I guess you are canvassing people in London, where you live, which may not be entirely relevant. For the record the figures from Allam Marine (and performance so far from Hull City Tigers) suggest that if he's not a visionary he does at least seem to be getting something right. Could you invest £60m? I certainly couldn't, so I'm prepared to accept he may know a thing or two about business.
Both, and, as I say, we obviously move in different circles. My experience of speaking to people is that most are ok or don't mind. Very few seem to be against it. As for whether it succeeds or not, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Perhaps you'd like to make a diary note to say "I told you so!" for this time next year?
I get emails from all over. Just because Allam has got something right about one business it doesn't mean he would be good at every business. Allam admits he doesn't know anything about football. So, because somebody has money it means they know more than you?
