Daily Fail report on Arteta being out for 6 weeks http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...teta-injury-He-miss-weeks-torn-quadricep.html. Sounds excessive but we have Ramsey who seems on decent form and can do a job at DM for the meantime. Hope he's back soon and especially for the NLD. Not much news on the transfer front for us except a £6m bid for Ashley Williams and the usual Suarez nonsense.
Even if Arsenal signed Gustavo & Suarez tomorrow (which, let's face it is about as likely as Moyes resigning in protest at the fixture list) I would still say the window is a disaster. This was the time for Arsenal to get ahead of the game for the season that is their best chance for a title push in many years - new managers, new sponsorship, funds finally available. Instead, it's a day before the season starts & they're already playing catchup. Waiting for the end of the transfer window is a risk. They could be far off the top & out of the CL already by then.
I hear what you're saying, but to be honest we've heard this before about how we'll fall away as miss out on the CL. If and when we do then the vultures will have their day. As it is, despite the doom and gloom, we are still in it.
Yes. They're still in it. If you had to pick a red ball out of a bag of 10, would you feel more confident about getting a red if there were 5 reds, 5 blacks, or 9 reds & 1 black? That's the point I'm making. There's always a chance of losing in football, but you can stack the odds in your favour. For at minimum the first 5 games of the season plus the CL qualifier Arsenal have failed miserably to stack the odds when they had the chance.
Yep it's confirmed by the BBC that he's signed for Wolfsburg. All I can say is Wenger must have some big things up his sleeves! But it's a shame we didn't sign him up, he would have been a good signing.
Starting to lose faith again to be honest. Wenger making all the right sounds again but not following through. I will wait until the end of the window to pass judgement, but I was hoping Wenger would have moved early so that any new signings could have had a pre-season to get used to our style. IF there are no big signings then I do think Wenger needs to move along, as much as it pains me to say.
I totally applaud the board for the removal of the deadwood, you just think surely we can't go into the season with such a thin squad, but we are. I totally get what you mean Piskie about the window not being shut, I just fear that the hand is on the latch starting to close it
Really disappointed we never even tried to sign Gustavo. I'll be very suprised if we bring in anything other than a few last minute average additions from the French league. Woop Wopp 4th place trophy again. * This transfer window is turning me into a right miserable old git. Hopefully there will still be something to smile about by the end of it.(signing Suarez would be a good start)
I'm sorry, but if the reason we didn't sign Gustavo is wages, then I am quite happy he didn't join. It shows the extent of his ambition that he'd rather play in a mid table German side than a side in the CL. Chose the comfortable option. We'll get someone else. And not Flamini either
I dont think wages were the issue. We never even bid, while Wolfsburg went all out to persuade him to sign.
Not really sure about the wages and the real question is was we really in for him? But I agree, signing for Wolfsburg for just a bit more money would look bad on him.
I think we were in for him. I just think he chose to go somewhere else. There is nothing we can do at all about that.
Well alot of German papers are saying Wolfsburg put their offer in weeks ago. He's been waiting for a bigger Club to bid.. but nothing happened.
If we weren't in for him that's even worse imo. If we made a bid and he decided to join Wolfsburg, and the reports of 130k a week wages are true, then I can understand why we didn't want to sign him.
Very true, it's all speculation. Wenger probably has some more concrete targets that no one knows about.
