I will never feel sorry for Pardew as he stills insists playing people out of position, disgusting long ball tactics, still plays Jonas, Shola, etc

I said I feel sorry for him. As a manager no cos he's clueless. As a person, yes because he's being put into an impossible situation.

The thing is mate, he knew exactly what he was getting himself into to but he was more than happy to be a puppet and a 'yes' man. That is sadly the truth, imo anyway.

I agree but i think for Pardew, a man on the managerial scrapheap before newcastle, he would have lopped off his arm for this job

<laugh> Isn't that the point though? He has to play Shola because he has no one else?

I agree with the puppet thing, I mean with his managerial record he was damn lucky to have got the job in the first place. Trouble is he is being shafted big time in true Mike Ashley fashion.

He should have shown Shola the door as soon as he came in mate. Still having part of the team just because he is a nice guy is just plain stupidity. If there is a striker crisis he shouldn't have sent Campbell out on loan. Now, I know he needs the experience but Campbell raw and untried would be 100 times more useful than Shola is.

Have to agree. At least with Campbell he would have got pace and 100% effort which is more than Shola has. ( Plus he wouldn't be fouling all the time )

I agree I'd play Campbell ahead of him. However no one should kid themselves here, Campbell is incredibly raw and the best thing for him is a loan to get some game time, confidence and goals. So do you hurt the young strikers development by keeping him around to play a bit part role or do whats best for him. The only reason I question the Campbell move is because we are so short in attacking areas. If we actually had the numbers, its a great move for him.

Unfortunately I don't think its up to Pardew who is shown the door. I think any manager would be reluctant to play brinkmanship with Ashley by shipping a senior striker with the misplaced expectation of a guaranteed replacement. I think he would move him on but not while we are so shorn. Whichever way its dressed up for me, the presence of Shola is solely down to one thing - we have never had a full quota of PL strikers. For some reason we are reluctant to have this. I suspect because they command the most money and wages. I thought last season I'd happily ship a midfield for an extra striker. Goals win games and partiicularly when you need to change games. We seem quite happy to just drift along. SAF knew the need for strikers, KK had a running battle with our board in the 90's because he wanted 4 strikers all the time, it is so bloody obvious.
