'Tottenham are expected to unveil Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo as their latest summer recruit on Friday, the Sun reports'.

Osvaldo has rejected an approach from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and it is believed Southampton's interest will amount to nothing, with the Italy international keen to move to White Hart Lane. The 27-year-old would join Roberto Soldado in a much improved attack for Spurs, with the deal expected to cost around £15 million. Andre Villas-Boas has had a successful summer in the transfer window, adding Frenchman Ettiene Capoue to the roster on Thursday, following on from the additions of Paulinho and Soldado.

Really? that is really doing it on the QT.
Anyone seen anything to back this up?

We're being linked with Roma players because Baldini was their DOF, so no doubt Baldini rates these players but I doubt anyone has anything else to add weight to the rumours.

Isn't this Osvaldo a bit of a bad boy of the Balotelli/Sewerage ilk? I heard Roma want shot of him.

Yep, there's been talk of Osvaldo, then again there's been talk of Coronation Street. I mentioned Osvaldo yesterday or the day before that, because I'd read about possibilities of him signing.

It makes sense to get a striker in and shift out one of our current ones, but then again, etc, etc.

    I hope not.
As long as that pony tail doesn't make him like Andy Carroll! <laugh>

Apparently Southampton have had a 15m bid accepted according to the express. (For osvaldo that is)

Hmmm not confident on AVB comments reference Bale.

I reckon he is refusing to play but he won't come out and say to prevent burning bridges thus using injury as an excuse.

I hope I'm wrong but pretty shallow if I'm correct.

Im not confident either (this is the first time ive started to doubt). Its so frustrating being completely in the dark, all we really know is that the papers make up a load of rubbish and that Spurs have said next to nothing.

earlier in the window i wanted to keep bale at all costs, but if he wants to go and we've done the wise thing and kept it quiet while we do our business then i applaud the club. The business we have done so far has been good, one of the best windows ever for Spurs i'd say. If we bring in 1 of Lamela/Eriksen/Pjancic, Osvaldo too (that one is on apparently) and hopefully a CB (Alderwiereld?) then our squad will look very good even without Bale.

The squad will be deep enough that AVB can do is gradual introduction for most of the newbs too.

Well the papers certainly do make up a load of rubbish, The Sun being found guilty this week when Joe Ledley said there report of GB saying that he'd never play for Spurs again being absolute rubbish. Ledley said Bale is saying nothing to anybody, Welsh team mates, Spurs team mates etc. so no one actually knows his view on things. However, as AVB said Spurs are not negotiating so I would guess Spurs have set their price and are not budging, a sort of take it or leave it offer. RM are obviously struggling/unwilling to meet Levy's terms so there is a bit of an impasse there. Hey ho, we are on a win-win, personally I accepted that he would be leaving weeks ago so if he stays he will be like a super new signing. If he goes we can purchase a lot with that money.

Quote from AVB in the Guardian:

It's a little different when you see that quote rather than the edited highlights used by some papers.

'Ideally we would like the player to continue belonging to Tottenham'

Suggesting that no agreement has been reached either way.

The last para would suggest to me that they have had to remind Bale of his obligations, adding fuel to the story that he wants to go.

Osvaldo was supposedly offered to us for a shade under £9m earlier in the window, so where did the other £6m suddenly come from?

    Yup, same one.

Meanwhile, Hudd has left in a shower of sour grapes, if this comment is accurate: Tom Huddlestone says Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas ignored him and did not give Spurs' young English players a chance. The 26-year-old midfielder has joined Hull for around £5m.

We don't need to sign players to improve our teams looks, we have AVB!

Hudd later refuted this on twitter, said he had been misquoted by the journos

    https://twitter.com/TomHuddlestone6

"Would like to thank the Spurs fans, staff and players for the wonderful 8yrs I have spent there. Have some amazing memories that I will cherish and keep with me forever. A new chapter In my career is about to start and I'm very excited and can't wait to get started! Feel mis-quoted, enjoyed my season with AVB and my whole time with spurs. If you read the quotes you get a clear picture, not the headline"

I'm not keen on Osvaldo. Don't want a trouble character at the club and to my knowledge he's never been tremendously impressive, certainly not impressive enough to warrant a £15 million outlay at 27 years of age.
