Put Lawro's prediction into the predictor and here is how the opening table will look if his results are correct: 1) Arsenal 2) Chelsea 3) Manchester City 4) West Ham United 5) Norwich City 6) Tottenham Hotspur 7) West Bromwich Albion 8) Liverpool 9) Fulham 10) Manchester United 11) Sunderland 12) Swansea City 13) Crystal Palace 14) Everton 15) Southampton 16) Stoke City 17) Aston Villa 18) Cardiff City 19) Hull City 20) Newcastle United
Drogba didn't score from a free kick near the end. That was at the end of the first half. His game winner came in injury time on a fluke desperation chipped cross from the goal line that floated into goal over Myhill's head. Complete luck!!
I would never be happy with a 2-0 defeat! Having said that, it's most likely we will lose but not at the odds the betting sites have been giving. We've had two good performances at Stamford Bridge recently. Even in the first game at the KC we matched them until late in the game.
Surprised Lawro is so positive about us! Definitely some truth in what he is saying though given our manager and signings. Defeat is likely on Sunday but I've spoken to a couple of Chelsea fans I knew from uni and they were saying that they don't expect a thrashing, more a 1/2-0 win as Jose tends to grind out results. It is like a free game for us on Sunday with no pressure so as long as we can go out and gve a good account of ourselves then no one can complain.
Apart from when his team set the all-time scoring record for a championship winning team in Europe.....
I remember plenty of narrow wins in there. From memory of the old606 Chelsea fans often felt he was more happy to grind out a result which in fairness did them no harm.
Got to be honest most good premier sides going to Chelsea find it hard to get anything never mind a newly promoted club, lets hope we compete well and all though i don't expect it a draw would be a fantastic result (the Alamo comes to mind), I don't think it helps with it been Mourinho first game in charge its bound to lift the home crowd
As one of the four passed their sell by date MOTD pundits, Lawrenson along with the others should be put out to grass. Lineker has his crisps and I'm sure the others have other outlets for their dubious talents. Funny none of them have had a hand at management except for Shearer who appears now and again, and I read somewhere a while back that Alan Hansen is paid £40,000 an appearance on MOTD, don't know if that is true or not.
Hasn't Brucey got form at Chelsea ? Wasn't it his Sunderland team that beat them 0-3 or something a few seasons ago? I said at the start of the week I'd be happy if we're not bottom on goal difference after one game. I'm a bit more confident now after this week's signings.
Lawro's three to go down Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway (in no particular order): Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Cardiff "Of the three promoted teams, Cardiff and Palace will be down there but Hull look best equipped to stay up. For all the promoted teams, we are talking about a bottom-six finish and their aim will be to finish top of the bottom six. Going up from the Championship is such a massive step. "From the teams that struggled last year, there are still question marks over Sunderland - yes, Paolo Di Canio kept them up last season and in the short term it was an appointment that worked. It could all still end in tears, though."
Lawro is the only pundit I've seen tipping us to stay up, nothing we can do about it like, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but thankfully the bookies are showing a similar prediction for us, you can Lay Bet City to get relegated at around 1.76 on betfair at the moment, I've stuck 50 on us, will win around 73 when we stay up at the end of the season
