I know he was top scorer for them last season, but £3.5m??? Maybe that's a reflection of where we are nowadays with prices these days. Danny Graham
They say we were terrible with money. At least we didn't spend £3.5m on the likes of Morison or Graham who are only proven at Championship level
They were after Mackhail Smith in January but Fry wanted £3m. Why not spend another £500k and get yourself a guy who is tried and tested at a tier higher. How much did we bid for Campbell? Made £3.5m look like pocket change.
1) Wasn't that Norwich? 2) Mackail-Smith is also unproven at Championship level, never mind the Premier League. Graham is proven in the 2nd tier, at least, unlike CMS.
You're right, it was Norwich. They're all the same these Championship promoted teams. D'oh! That's what I meant about Graham. At least he's proven at Champ level so £500k more than someone who is only proven at Lg 1 level seems fair enough. Of course, that £500k could get you Scott Sinclair!
But if you know you may be playing in the Premier League the following season, why pay £3.5million for a player who has never done anything above the 3rd tier?
Because no one in the prem will sign for you? Well, they will but you'll have to lump their club £5m and pay them £45k a week....Erm...
.....and if you think that's funny, Newcastle are about to offer £5m (Yes, that's FIVE!!) for Shane Long!! Shane Long For Gods Sake!!!!
Which is why they've signed him. Presumably he's the best they could get for their current scouting network.
I wouldn't. I think Snodgrass is one of the top 5 players in the Championship. The only thing Shane Long is good at is diving, fouling and kissing his shirt.
Of the players I saw last season, for me the most impressive were. Scott Sinclair Wes Hoolahan Andy King Robert Snodgrass Jimmy Kebe
