Speaking as a professional statistician (well, I do occasionally get paid for work involving stats ), the fixtures are as likely to come out the way they did as any other way. If you pick selections at random then eventually you get a combination that looks funny, and after 20 odd seasons of the PL the champions were always going to get a poor draw at some point. Ultimately they weren't fixed, they have never been fixed, and the only reason Moyes has commented is to build the usual siege mentality that has served us so well in previous seasons, and get the media talking about something other than Rooney for a change. Score two out of two Mr Moyes
Sunday 1st September 2013 Liverpool v Man Utd Arsenal v Tottenham Sunday 27th October 2013 Chelsea v Man City Sunderland v Newcastle Nothing suspicious about them
What a load of ****e. Everyone has to play everyone else twice in a season and it makes no difference when you do that. The FA should fine Moyes for bringing the game into disrepute - suggesting the fixtures have been 'rigged' to make Manchester United's start to the season harder? - total and utter cobblers.
I dunno whats worse, the fact he is moaning about fixtures, or that the article left out lil old Swansea off the list of his hard start
Should they fine Lambert as well, then? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Jose-Mourinho-and-Chelsea-over-fixtures.html
WAW .. I remember City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea managers doing that all the time and never seen them been fined .. oh i forgot .. when it comes to UTD, it should be a different game and they should get all the red cards, bans, and fines .. right?
This. Anyone with an understanding of probability will tell you the odds of this sequence of events happening at random will be very small only if this is calculated in advance i.e prior to the draw. Once the draw is made then we cannot say this sequence is unlikely to have occurred by chance. It is like seeing 8 consecutive reds at roulette and saying "blimey, the thing must be rigged. The odds of 8 consecutive reds are 1/2 to the power of 8!!" which is of course nonsense !! The draw could well have been rigged but the evidence is not in the mathematical odds.
He needs to look at it from the other teams viewpoint. We ( Swansea) have you lot 1st game and then awaty to Spurs 2nd game. We all have to play each other so just get on with it.
