Are there any promising youngsters in your squad that could benefit from a loan spell at a lower league club such as Pompey? I hear the boy Lambert is quite promising What are your thought on his debut?
All the support Rickie is getting is quite gratifying. Even Pompey fans can't bring themselves to dislike him!
You've got an old mate of his playing for you at the moment and doing quite well I hear. We all liked Connolly and I hope he does well for you but as far as our Rickie is concerned you can't have him a he is progressing not regressing and he wants desperately to go to Brazil.
do not think it will be club policy to loan players out. If you look at the last u21 team, most were 18 or 19 years old. I believe now most dead wood players have been released and youth players with no future at the club have been released as well. NC runs a fit club with no extra fat
Did you see him last night? Fitter than he's ever been, and could give most butcher's dogs a run for their money.
He does really looks up for it. He probably thinks that this is his stage and the level that he should be at, he basically wasted 7 years of his career due to being overweight. Im sure that Liverpool would love to have him now if they could turn back the clock.
Seager would smash them in at that level - but he's going to win us the U-21 Premier League, so we'll keep him thanks.
Had it been quite that simple I'm sure someone would have pointed it out before too many years had passed. Proper nutrition for athletes wasn't just invented/discovered in the last 3 years or so, but has been known about for many years. It didn't come to professional football until the last decade or so. EDIT: Stanley Matthews was the first player to get his eating right and he went on playing for Stoke City until he was 50.
Thats true, yet when you see the difference in him in the last 3 years you have to ask the question, why did it take him 10 years to reach this level. When he first came to us he was a good scorer, yet NA seemed to instill a belief in Rickie and changed his diet and fitness, now MP has sculped him into the goal scoring machine we have now
If you see the interview on Youtube with his former Rochdale coach, David Flitcroft, he was aware that Rickie was far better than the divisions he was playing in, but it took Alan Pardew and Nigel Adkins to instil the belief that getting his body just right would pay enormous dividends. Tactically, he has also improved under their tutelage, but there is a general acceptance that he has always been a clever footballer.
Does make you wonder how many other players currently playing in the lower leagues could shine at the top table if given the chance. Craig Mikhael Smith for instance. Where was he last night?
CMS is a bit like Le fondre. Both individually quite talented but neither is a team player and will rarely offer support. This lack of work rate will always limit their true potential.
Disagree about CMS. Every time I've seen him play he works his socks off, his problem is more a lack of talent. Ultimately it's a combination of factors. I don't know much about Rickie's personal life but his kids look about the age of when he joined us and becoming a Dad is one of those kick up the arse moments. Having someone show faith in you is a huge confidence boost and no disrespect to his previous clubs but Southampton had more away supporters than some of his old clubs home gates and we've been shouting his name since he got here.
