Tom Huddlestone has specifically said the fact he joined was down to Bruce and his footballing philosophy.

How refreshing is it to see a footballer do this? I'm sure a footballer of his ability could have earnt more playing for the mad capped Italian at the Stadium of Light. But he chose 'footballing reasons'.

I'm really looking forward to seeing him play and enhance our chances of staying up.

He knows that here he will likely be our most important player and will play virtually every week, whereas at Sunderland it wasn't as likely. Bruce might even have given him the captaincy, who knows?

The fact that it is a World Cup year coming up probably also heavily influenced the decision.

Also, we are closer to his home...

It may also have something to do with Tom Huddlestone wanting to play football under Steve Bruce here as he thinks that Sunderland will crash and burn. Many already do. PDiC is the Titanic imo.

Agreed. After Gerrard - Lampard and Wilshere the midfield positions are open to anyone who is playing well.

SB is clearly a players manager with a very high reputation amongst players both as a successful player and manager, English too which counts for something in the Prem merry go round madness. Having watched him handle recruitment, our young squad, our chairman's personality and the media I am convinced we have an absolute diamond and we'll finish this season in our highest position in our 109 year history.

Enjoy Steve Bruce while you can chaps!

I think he's learned his lesson about his disloyalty and there would have to be some very good reason for him to move on.

I think it would take a job at one of the big clubs to prise him away, that of cause if he wanted that sort of pressure.

Does he only pay up when he cuts it? Maybe he can't afford the payments?

Isn't he not allowed to cut his hair until he scores? Maybe that will be his goal celebration - getting his hair cut on the pitch!?

I think so. He's raised over £80,000 so far I think.

It ends when he scores, and cuts it off. I think he's gonna do it every time he scores.

Agreed. He can no long be driven by financial matters, they reckon he's personally worth 14 million.
He's managing a club which has given him the chance to manage again without too much pressure, hopefully without calls to be sacked if we struggle this season.
He's being fully backed by an owner who doesn't seem to interfere in football matters and was quickly willing to splash the cash once the foreign transfer targets weren't up to scratch.
I honestly get the impression that he's thoroughly enjoying himself here.
