Now the days settled down, i'm actually in a tad bit of disbelief we've signed these two I know it's much the normal thing to do with any manager and signing but i still enjoy reading the players describing it was bruce who persusaded them city was the right club two players who have been capped by england in the last 12 months
It's amazing to see how excited you guys are at the two signings. It shows how far we've come as a club over the last few years, in that players like Thudd and Jake have become surplus to requirements. Both of decent premiership standard, but unfortunately just fall slightly short in terms of being "top 4 players". I never thought i'd say something like that, having witnessed tottenhams dross in the late 90's and early-mid 2000's. It's players like Huddlestone who signed under Jol in 2005, that were part of the initial stages of our gradual improvement as a club. In a way, he's become part of the furniture and its sad to see him leave, but as Yid Vicious pointed out, it's good to know he'll be playing each week now. A member on our board has very strong links with the club (I won't say what exactly), but he's said that Tom is excellent for the dressing room, has a great attitude and has worked his arse off to get in the physical condition he's currently in. Often clubs can sign foreign players who might be a waste of money or not live up to the hype. But with tom, you have proven premier league and European experience. Huddlestone really is an excellent acquisition for Hull in so many ways. Fair play to your management and board on sealing the deal. They deserve a lot of credit for it.

His fitness is the key but he will play more and get in the groove. Let's not forget about Livermore. He's not ours but there may be a clause and he looks more than decent also.
The squad's looking a lot healthier now. I'd like to see another forward come in on a permanent deal though, and it's risky having Livermore and Graham - likely to be two of the first names on the team-sheet - only on loan. Can't really complain though. Looks like HCAFC will have a fantastic final year before they get put down.

HULL City boss Steve Bruce is hoping he can turn Tom Huddlestone into an England regular after signing him for a club-record £5.25m. Arriving at the KC Stadium from Tottenham yesterday, along with Jake Livermore on a season-long loan, Bruce hopes the signings will make the rest of the Premier League "sit up and take notice" of the Tigers. And he is confident he can help the 26-year-old Huddlestone back into the international fold, if he stays fit during the length of his three-year deal. "He's just a fabulous football player, who is at the right age," he said at today’s press conference at the KC Stadium. "I just watched him train and he's a quality footballer. "He's got something we've been wanting to bring into the club for a long time now...the ability to pass the ball the way he can. There's not many, left-footed or right-footed, who can pass a ball as well as Tom. "He's still young enough, he's played for England before. Let's hope playing for us week in, week out can get him back in there and if we can help him along the way that's terrific." Having also snared Livermore on loan as part of the deal, Bruce believes the added value he has squeezed out of Spurs, who are notoriously canny operators in the market, will prove vital as the season goes on. "Jake is someone we've been trying all summer for," he said. "To roll the two into one deal was terrific for us. As always with (Tottenham chairman) Daniel Levy it was difficult at times but I'd like to thank him. "It's not often you get a player of Jake's ability on loan." Huddlestone, who turned down strong overtures from Sunderland, was won over by Bruce's vision for the club. He also had his heart set on being a regular starter this season and accepted that would not be likely under Andre Villas-Boas. "I was very pleased with what the manager had to say, the role he has in mind for me and the way he wants the team to function," he said. "He wants me to get on ball as much as possible and give me licence to get forward as well. "I had some good years at Tottenham but the last couple of years, whether through injury or not being selected by the new manager, have been frustrating. "I played quite a few games last year but not as many as I maybe would have liked. "I have the chance to play more regularly than I was given the opportunity to last season and as a footballer, when you've missed large periods with injury you just want to play as regularly as possible."
