Simple basis - rate our players out of 10 on how they stand in comparison to the standards of other Championship teams: Hamer - 7. Solid enough but still prone to error. Pope - N/A. Yet to feature Solly - 9. rarely beaten Wilson - 6. Yet to know his best position. Morrison - 7. Seems to be more suspectible to the odd wobble, but still our key man at the back. Cort - 6.5. Dependable. Dervite - 6.5. Improving Wood - 6. History suggests ok at this level. Wiggins - 7.5. Capable if injury free. Evina - 6. Needs to improve his defensive game. Should move in to midfield IMO. Pritchard - 6. His stats last season looked impressive, but still flatters to deceive over 90mins. Green - 6. Inconsistent, but yet to have an extended run. JJ - 7.5. Answered his early season critics (myself inc) by leading by example and the move in to the middle helped. Gower - 6. Hasn't shown much yet. But maybe not helped by those around? Hughes - 6.5. Tough one, stats show we are better with him, but think injuries will have taken his toll. Stephens - 6.5. Moments of brilliance. Moments of pull your hair out frustration. Cousins - N/A. yet to feature Harriott - 6.5. Potential to be a 7.5+, but not just yet. Yann - 8. Decent enough return last season for a target man. technically brilliant. Sordell - 6.5. Hoping with a run of games we will have another striker to get us 10+ Church - 6.5. Personally think its a good bit of business and should chip in with a decent amount of goal. Pig - N/A - yet to feature. I'm sure I'll have forgotten some one as I've done this off the top of my head. What I also find interesting is that other than 3 players we do have a middle of the road squad. The average rating of the squad in my opinion is 6.5 - I really just hope CP can keep the spirit high because we really do need 2 more 7+'s in the side.
Hamer 6. Jesus Christ looked better on a cross. Solly 10. The best since Scott Parker. Wiggins 7. Never looks fit. Dervite 7. Improving fast. Morrison 6. A ten a penny Championship centre half. Gower 4. Makes Ray Wilkins look like Pele. Jackson 8. Probably his last season, though. Pritchard 2. His second touch is a tackle. Green 0. Close the door on your way out. Yann 8. Lets hope last game was an aberation. Hughes 6. Same comments as JJ. Stephens 4. If Villa still want him, i won't charge for petrol. Church, Sordell, Pope..too soon to say.
Hamer - 6.5 - Good shot stopper, ropey on crosses, could do with bulking out Pope - 5 - Too early to tell, but doesnt look like he could catch a cold in the warm up Solly - 9 - Superb defensively, has the most valuable quality in a defender.....reliability Wilson - 6 - Solid enough, never going to dislodge Solly, not creative enough as a RM Morrison - 7 - Our best, most consistent CB, just dont give him to pick a pass as it will go long! Dervite - 6.5 - Improving, plays out from the back but has always looked slow on the turn for me Cort - 6.5 - Imposing presence who tackles and blocks well, lack of pace worries me Wood - 6 - Will reserve judgment but was impressed vs Oxford Wiggins - 8 - Will run up and down the line all day and overlaps superbly, rarely beaten defensively Evina - 6.5 - Allows his marker far too much time to get a cross in, but attacks very well Green - 5.5 - Most creative RM but makes too many poor decisions and far too indisciplined Pritchard - 6 - The 'anti-Green' very disciplined but not creative, impressed with his work rate Cousins - 6 - Looks like he can dictate the tempo in games but very early days Hughes - 6 - Much like Pritch, love the mans work rate but would struggle to pass water Jackson - 7 - Proved me wrong in making step up last season, provides goals from CM and leadership Gower - 6.5 - I can see a good footballer in there somewhere, but needs runners around him Stephens - 7.5 - Technically our best CM but too inconsistent, followed up good Oxford game with positive cameo vs Boro Hollands - 6 - Huffs and puffs, does some good things but I think League 1 is his level, perfect foil for Stephens in League 1 Harriott - 7 - Exciting prospect, needs to work on end product, worried we expect too much too young Cook - 6 - Had been uinimpressed but played well vs Oxford, worth rotating LM position to stop Harriott burnout? Sordell - 6.5 - Proven Championship goalscorer, no service vs Boro but looked uninterested which is worrying Church - 7 - Gets a higher rating that Sordell purely as he came on vs Boro and more of a shift in in 15 mins Kermorgant - 8 - Talismanic, heroic, technically brilliant....he is our Eric Cantona Pigott - 6 - Good prospect but will need time, really impressed with him vs Oxford To my mind the area of the team that needs urgent attention is Midfield, where we either have players that huff and puff or ones that are technically good but do not show it often enough. Unfortunately the only one I can see that is somewhere inbetween (Jackson) I fear will spend more time this season on the treatment table than on the pitch.
Hamer - 8 - Brilliant Shot Stopper and last season most improved by a Mile (possible Goal Keeper's union rating though from me) Pope - NA - Only seen him in warm ups, looks ok Solly - 9 - Brilliant, cracking RB and hopefully we sign him to a new contract ASAP, could do with being 5ft 4" though for the crosses Wilson - 6 - Decent RB back up, I like him many dont though. Morrison - 7 - Morro, not as big a fan now as I was last season or season before, not really sure why though. Dervite - 7 - Much improved from when he first signed, is a CDM though NOT a CB. Cort - 6.5 - MONSTER!! in the air, only think Rufus or Christian Dailly won more headers than Cort, on the deck though bambi on ice. Wood - NA - Not seen him EVER. Wiggins - 8 - Keep him fit one of the best LB's in the league and in quite a while for Charlton, much better than that KELLY YOUGA ARGHHHH Evina - 3 - Don't really rate him, bad attitude imo Green - 6 - On his day one of the best crossers in the league and brilliant, sadly that day doesnt come often enough. Pritchard - 5 - Gives his all but technically is really really poor, and NEVER ON RM! Cousins - 5 - Not seen, but when i saw oxford highlights that kid is tall... Hughes - 6 - Works hard and is a good presence in the dressing room. Jackson - 7 - Good free kicks and leadership, some times do question where he is on the field, does go missing. Gower - 5 - Not sure why we signed him, he's like 60 Stephens - 7.5 - I must be one of his biggest fans, think is his brilliant and can control the match. Hollands - 6 - Still think he can step up, but will wait and see if he gets a chance. Harriott - 7 - Quick and good prospect, seems a bit blinkered sometimes. Cook - 6 - Saw him against Orient whenever he signed, looked good, clearly isnt though or he would play. Sordell - 6 - Looks poor, lazy and just not up to the pace, but he has a record so will give him time. Church - 7 - Was far more excited about church than I was Sordell, hopefully he will repay my favour, last time i was excited about a striker we signed it was Pavel Abbot. Kermorgant - 9 - CLASS. Pigott - 6 - FEED THE PIG, nah not seen him but heard good things about him!
Yes, but when we're so skint that we can't afford to hire a coach to away games any more, he can get half price on the National Express bus... ...and what's wrong with being 60, young whippersnapper?
Nothing wrong with being 60 as long as you don't play professional football still and never thought about National Express, good idea
