Macca, in my haste to denounce the system that places such a financial burden on those so young, I forgot to extend my congratulations to you. It was rather rude of me. Well done.
Congratulations mate. You're about to embark on what just might be the best & most enjoyable 3 years of your life...savour them. If I recall you're into music somewhat, and not knowing what the music scene is like in Huddersfield, may I recommend the occasional trip up the road to Leeds University Student's Union on Saturday nights during term times. It had (and I'm sure is still true) an unsurpassed reputation for holding the best gigs on the University circuit. So much so, in my time, I spun my University stay into 7 years to make the most of those Saturday concerts. If you happen to be at a City home game at the KC, you'll have time to get to the concerts in Leeds en route back to your digs in 'Uddersfireld. You may detect a touch of envy ... you'd be right...enjoy college life before all those responsibilities of life rear their ugly heads.
Huddersfield? I know three people who went there and they all did fashion. Hmm...
Well done son. I also sometimes regret not going to university. Though I did do a years certificate/CPD course, for work, at Huddersfield university a couple of years ago. I regret to inform you that I didn't notice any decent talent there. I was well put out by that. But I'd expect a few hidden gems, considering the number of fashion students there. Canteen was ****e too. Girly portions and pretty expensive for canteen food. Best avoided. But the library seemed a good one and you'll probably meet Patrick Stewart when you graduate.
Don't even think of them as debts. In no way shape or form do they function like debts, they function much more as an additional tax. We're the only country that operates a system this way and refers to it as a loan system and the balance as a debt. Every other nation refers to the "repayments" as a "graduate contribution" or other similar term with the balance just representing the maximum you can be asked to contribute. Missionary work.
