Right I've waited long enough for DTLW. Now that we have all calmed down after yesterday's events, I am now looking forward to Saturday. First up a team that we struggled the most against last season and the only team we failed to score against and one of the few teams to do the double over us (I can only think of Spurs and Man United as the others). Match officials Referee: Kevin Friend Assistants: M Scholes, R Ganfield 4th Official: Chris Foy Preseason results Saints UE Llagostera 1-2 Southampton (Rodriguez 2) Palamos 0-8 Southampton (Guly 3, Lallana, Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Rodriguez pen, Shaw) Southampton 0-2 Schalke Southampton 3-1 Beskitas (Lambert, Mayuka, Isgrove) Celta Vigo 0-0 Southampton (4-1 pens) Southampton 4-3 Real Sociedad (Lallana, Schneiderlin, Hooiveld, Puncheon) West Brom Hanover 2-1 West Brom (Rosenberg) Puskas FC Academy 0-3 West Brom (Anelka 2, Dorrans pen) Derby County 0-2 West Brom (Dorrans, Rosenberg) West Brom 3-1 Atromitos (Anelka, Berahino, Rosenberg) West Brom 0-1 Genoa Cork City 0-6 West Brom (Anelka 3, Dorrans 2, Long) West Brom 2-0 Bologna (Rosenberg, Anelka) Team news Saints will almost certainly be without Shaw, Clyne has returned to training but will lack match fitness. Wanyama and Lovren set to make their competitive debuts. Ramirez and Yoshida may not start due to international commitments. UPDATE: Shaw has taken part in training today and is expected to start on Saturday. Predicted line up: Boruc Chambers/Clyne Lovren Yoshida/Hooiveld Shaw Wanyama Schneiderlin Lallana Ramirez/Guly Rodriguez Lambert For West Brom, Anelka will almost certainly make his debut after a prolific preseason. Albion have generally played 4-4-2 in preseason with Rosenberg playing alongside most of the time. I think the outcome of the match will depend on how well West Brom and Saints deal with Lambert and Anelka respectively. Both are massive threats for different reasons.
Really looking forward to this one. Slightly worried we will be light at the back but still going for a 3-1 Saints win.
Tough first game of the season, hopefully the joy of yesterday will pick up the morale of the whole team but I don't think we will get a win. Heart says 1-1, head says a 2-1 loss.
Well Done Tom! Think this will be a very close affair ... I'm going 2-2, with goals from Lambert & Puncheon. Boruc Chambers Fonte Lovren Fox Wanyama Schneiderlin Puncheon Rodriguez Lallana Lambert Subs: K.Davis, Yoshida, Cork, Ramirez, Guly, Mayuka, S.Davis
I think they look less of a threat this season without Lukaku. Anelka shouldn't be quite as difficult to deal with, though they still have that central midfield that gave us hell. Mulumbu was a class above everyone else on the pitch in the game that he played, but we have Wanyama now, who is as good if not better. I'm expecting a winning start with West Brom looking bang average.
Heart says Saints win, but head says draw. Fancy Rickie to score and carry on his high. Hoping Victor will make all the difference to the midfield battle.
So, with the blocking of firstrowsports, how do you people rate our prospect of getting a stream? Will there be some unblocked sites cropping up with different streams? Or do we all need to proxy into Sweden or somewhere?
? I watched the u21 game against liverpool from firstrow just the other day http://www.firstrowsports.bz/
I don't think we'll win; they haven't got Lukaku but Anelka isn't a bad replacement, although they did finish quite poorly. West Brom were our bogey side last year and missing our best defender and having to play Fox won't help, and also we haven't got form from the end of last season. I'm going for 2-2, with Lambert and Rodriguez with the goals.
Think we will win this 2-1. It's frustrating that we probably won't start 5 first choice players due to injuries and lack of match fitness but I think we should still have the personnel to get a win. Would settle for a good performance given the outs. Would also settle for a bad performance and draw/win
As I've recently had to take my Freesat dish down I've been watching via the Internet. As usual, the ITV streamer/player was hopeless, with buffering every few minutes. So I switched to First Row and got a pretty good stream. It was stable and I had several links to choose from. Incidentally, I do have a TV licence, but if a terrestrial channel can't get its Internet act together..!?!
There's loads of different sites available, FirstRow is a drop in the ocean, and even now you can still access it incredibly easily. I just use http://www.viplivesports.eu/ anyway, personally.
