If nobody bought anything to do with the club, tickets, merch - nothing, I bet that idea would change.


Without the fans, the club is nothing.

 

Turnstile receipts are a small percentage of overall income, but they set the price a club can charge for advertising, sponsorship etc, as well as generating income from merchandising and concessions. It also adds to the money Sky's prepared to pay if there's a decent atmosphere as it makes for a more marketable product.

The failings come when fans get mistaken for customers, especially if it's the fan making the error.

The fans ARE the Club.

I think I see the confusion. He's not asking you to substantiate your view being a gut feeling.

Either your view on the name change is substantiated or it is a gut feeling. You're saying it's not a gut feeling, so he's asking you where you've substantiated your view so he can try and understand why you believe what you do about the name change.

On the other thread you chipped in on, I'm making an observation and expressing an opinion. Insults are the childish squawkings when someone calls another poster a knob. If I was sensitive I'd be bothered.
