The AFC was included a name for a very good reason- so people did not confuse it with Hull City Corporation,Hull City Waterworks, Hull City Hospitals, Hull FC, Hull City Gasworks, Hull City Mortuary etc

It defines who we are in Hull and nationally.

Dr Allam utterly fails to understand the relevance of the AFC. Almost all football clubs in the world have FC or AFC in their official name.

To break with this established common sense shows bad taste and an utter lack of comprehension of football.

That's why he's putting Tigers on the end. So it identifies us and is unique.

Now I am just being awkward.

Will the club shop have three versions of garden gnome?

A local one, a national one and a foreign one?

ok lets not let facts get in the way of drama . but here they are

we cannot change our football club name without a MINIMUM of a season pass survey with at least 66% joining in ... premier league "FIRST STAGE RULES" ...

and can I add ... this is an absolute joke as business people know .. no one else cares if you pay the money .

season pass .. its pennies to them .. welcome to football in the 21st century ... I told you this days ago and he confirmed if "supporters do not pay the bills" .. end of a story

Tger Beer (owned by Heineken) already have a wide range of sponsorships so it may not be interested in us. Everards Tiger is considerably better any way.
"In another poll conducted by Media
magazine, Tiger Beer was ranked 11th amongst
    Asia’s Top 20 Brands".
    A minor player in Asia?

Why are the people who like this name change keep on banging on about Tiger Beer for?

If you hadn't noticed we're sponsored by Cash Converters, we have a shoddily made Adidas kit that is a template they use with tons of other clubs, and have just signed a "lucrative" commercial contract with SBOBET.

I can't see somebody as large as Tiger Beer, or Heineken, popping up to talk to the Allams any time soon.

We have no pull in the Asian market because we're a small team in the premier league, with no honours, no hope of winning something anytime soon, and it seems we're also running out of money too, judging by the way the Allam's are panicking over this name change/ brand idea.

No money to a advertise + no succes on trhe pitch= **** all chance of conquering foreing markets. All of this is pie in the sky at the minute.

Sounds like the Bartlett/Duffen school of budgets if there's an 11 million overspend.

Unless of course, he's misleading us......

Didn't the breakdown of spending that was put out a few weeks/months ago give that as the expected shortfall?

I'd be more concerned that he said in the interview he has no more money to spend, but that's just me looking beyond the conspiracy theories and working on the principle that if he's being honest, as of next summer (I'll assume he's talking about after the £11M he's committed us to) just who is paying the bills?

Invest now to obtain greater future returns. The breakdown given out did specifically state that it was expected that it would cost us more to try and stay up this season than (assuming we were successful) it would next season, as we'd already have the majority of the squad required to do that where as this summer we didn't. That's what makes me think (although I can't remember) that it showed us as having a shortfall this season that they expected to recoup in future seasons.
