Before the signing, my belief in us staying up was based on hope and my love for HCAFC. Now him and Livermore are here, I genuinely believe it can be done.
Great signings these, Bruce has brought in some great players for us. Even if we go down things are being done the right way, apart from some cack-handedness and disrespect from the owners which you can probably chalk down to ignorance if you want to give them the benefit of the doubt.
In reality these two signings improve our chances of staying up no end - I suspect the bookies will take notice somewhere along the line
Hopefully it won't, then any of our fans who are feeling freshly confident can take them for a bit extra by getting a bet on this week.
I think these signings are massive. Before I wasn't too convinced we would be able to give our more attacking midfield players enough opportunities to give our forwards a chance. I'd still like to see Bent come in but I think he'll go to Palace.
I don't think we'll see anyone else coming in, but to top it off I'd be happy with Odemwingie who I think would be more accessible than Bent..... but now I'm just being greedy
This was why I was hoping to get a couple of big signings in early but I have to admit Bruce has done well so far.
IMO Alan McGregor was one of Scotland' best players tonight but still got 3 stuffed past him. This just shows how tough the challenge will be, but Brucie has done fantastically well with the £12M spent, and we will make a fist of it.
Is Huddlestone a defensive mid? Seems more like a Andrea Pirlo type player, so do we now go out and buy a tough tackling anchor man from bongo bongo land?
I remember the budget being 15-20m so if the right player is available (Amafitlano) sp? We need another winger so maybe 5m left plus loans I think we will see at least 1 more player in before deadline.
I would think him and Livermore would have a reasonably balanced partnership. Otherwise it would be odd to go out and sign 2 of them from the same club when there's no particular connection to us. I have thought though, it looked at first like it was going to be a pain in the arse to accomodate the midfield with varying formations in the course of a game but: 532 AM Elmo, Chester, Davies, Figueroa, Brady Livermore, Huddlestone Koren Aluko, Graham 442 AM Elmo, Chester, Davies, Figueroa Aluko, Livermore, Huddlestone, Brady Koren Graham 433 (although more likely 451 in practice) AM Elmo, Chester, Davies, Figueroa Livermore, Huddlestone Koren Aluko, Graham, Brady Obviously you could switch certain players for others, but that was just to pick an XI and vary it according to how the game is going without needing a sub.
