When people are faced with making desicions what must be thought through is the concept of not only accountibility but responsibility.

Put simply it is foolhardy to avoid making a decision just because its unpopular. The true test of character is when those who made the decisions can hold their heads up and say it worked or more crucially look in the mirror when it fails and admit responsibility.

Personally I do not like the way football as a whole has developed over the years into too much power for certain people and organisations. Along with many other areas of life I can only challange and question those who I believe should be held to account for their actions.

Ultimatly it is people together in numbers that can make changes happen. Democracy to me means just that. Even when I disagree I accept what the majority decide.

    My view.

Do people not think it a little strange that when announcing the club's renaming to Hull City Tigers they did it through the HDM?

The renaming is apparently being done to attract business globally. Would it not of been more beneficial to their cause if they presented the news through a structured announcement to the world's press? They could have also presented all the evidence they have through the research they have done which shows how this name change will succeed.

If there is evidence to suggest a bumper increase in global revenue from the change then present it to us via a media that is better suited to the news & not the local rag.

I think it was announced locally in the HDM because this was where their target audience, the Hull City Council, would read the news..

The references to his dislike of the lousy word "City" & how Hull City is irrelevant are references to the council. He has wounded pride & is acting in revenge of the council not selling him the stadium, at the cost of the club's heritage & supporter alienation.

We will only break the global market as a brand through years of continuous success nationally. No club will achieve global success without achieving success at home first. If you are going to take a step in that direction it may be best to make the announcement to a wider audience to that of the HDM.

    My main issues are
    1. Being mis-led & fed mis-truths
    2. The reference to "Tigers". We are "THE Tigers"

Hull - Sharks, Vikings, Angels, Thunder, White City, CPD Vikings.
    Humberside - Seahawks, Hawks

Where are they now? The City has a history of failed Americanised names.

If this was a genuine attempt to increase the club's profile I would support it whole heartedly, unfortunately, I see it as little more than a petulant dig at the council that could lead to more serious repercussions in the future.

Another example if name changerism.... Previously known as Basa, no body wanted to try this Vietnamese farmed river fish (pangasius) cos it sounded funny, even though it was a cheap alternative to plaice. Tesco got it renamed river cobbler and all of a sudden it became people friendly and now bought in their millions! Just saying.........

Did it have 109 years of people being emotionally attached to the name and did Tesco lie for weeks in advance to their loyal customers about the name change, reassuring it wasn't happening and only revealing the plans to change it after the customers' orders for the year ahead had already been placed?

Edit - that's another point for discussion really. If the name change is SO wholly positive and clearly the right thing to do just why did the club lie about it for weeks on end? Why not just come out and say they were doing it? Nobody has come up with a reasonable explanation for this.

Your the first person who has at least answered my questions properly, which i appreciate and i can see your view but i disagree.

Our issue last time was yes attracting players but we tried to attract the wrong players we tried to sign Cavani, Negredo and Owen lets be honest they wouldn't sign for Hull Tigers. At no point did we try signing anyone from Asia or the Americas. If we was trying to i would understand it but we haven't.

I also think it wouldn't work there is no proof it would work, if it worked would other Premier League clubs try? Also Cardiff have just signed three players for a lot of money i hardly doubt its due to anything other than money.

The world we are in is down to money and money only, that is what Players sign for. I am no saying your apathetic my father for instance doesn't give two monkeys if we are Hull City Tigers, but he may stop going if we become Hull Tigers.

I think we need to look at the bigger picture and what we want English football to be, do we want it to be a corporate game full of franchises or a league that can help develop young English talent. It could be both but i doubt it will be.

    All 109 years ?

i listed a load of clubs that changed their name when bored the other week , sometimes dramatically different and plenty were done quite some years after formation Manchester Utd being one
    And Arsenal being another .

History is history and look if it doesnt work im sure another owner looking to be extra popular may add the missing bits back in.
Id be more interested in having a bloody iconic shirt to relate to , not this swapping n changing every year ,
    thats annoying

What attracted me to the team...I lived in Hull and this was the local team, whatever they are called they are still the local team.
This name change thing is tedious lets talk football. Do you think our local team will sign one or two decent mid field players this week?
    Now this subject is emotional.

Sadly all the threads probably will for a few more days.

I'm surprised the predictions and trivia threads somehow haven't.
