Moderator coating off player, City fans and Gas in one thread... Heard of emo' s but never mod mo' s.
Wurzel, some people got nothing more to do than hide behind a computer...I too wonder who the next whipping boy is going to be!
Wizered, with the greatest respect and even I can see that it's meant to be a joke, I think it is in poor taste, so hold your hands up and say sorry. Having said that, I believe that all sensible criticism of our players is valid and LF by his poor performances over a long period and SO'D by picking him are leaving themselves wide open to this type of lampooning. The lad needs a long rest from first team action in the hope that he will recover but it's also possible that he never will.
all this is OTT and borderline bullying but the fact is fontaine should of gone in may, the fact he is still here is a complete disgrace. He nearly single handily got us relegated with woeful performance after woeful performance, he was at fault for Bradfords second goal, apparently had a stinker against Gillingham and well Coventry.. He has to go
I probably have been Fontaines biggest critic, but even I think he has to be taken out of the firing line now what ever he had when he was signed he has lost he needs a break some games with the development squad might help him get back to what he showed he could be, when he arrived he was the junior partner in the defensive set up and he played well it was when he became the senior member of the defence the cracks started showing. Just perhaps the weight of expectation was too much for him and some time playing without as much pressure will enable him to recover his composure because I can see that we are going to need him at some stage this season injuries and suspensions are going to leave us short at the back from time to time and whilst he is here he needs to be able to play. Flint and Williams are going to be our future main partnership so lets start with them now yes they will make mistakes but that is already happening, Fontaine and Carey are suffering slight injuries at the moment be a good time to start as we mean to go on. The reason I say we will need Fontaine is simple the thought of Wilson at the centre of defence is even more scary.
I think a few thousand boos for Fontaine's name being read out (if selected God help us) or when he plays (even more God help us) ought to do the trick and will let the Manager know what the fans think of things. This is serious stuff and may help shape or ruin a season that has only just begun. Fontaine is far and away the biggest single reason why we are where we are right now. Forget other players failings and those of successive managers, but LF is a constant through all of this. He wasn't good enough for the Championship and he clearly isn't good enough for League 1. The answer is both quick and easy, just drop him Mr O'Driscoll no matter how good he tells you he is or how well he might play in training, because none of that actually matters or counts.
Ernie - The Angry Robin is different because of the ideals behind it. It's meant to be also about organising pro active support of the club and having a bit of invention. The Gas have probably done similar to the trade it idea, and they are SLOW witted. Pro active support is not evident on here either.
It is disrespectful (never thought I would agree with Chris) Please if anyone wants to boo one of OUR PLAYERS before they play, don't go
Taylor is another that needs to move on,again nothing to show in his time here very poor touch, will not score many goals,Jon Stead was world class if you compare him to Taylor. As many fans are saying this is why Bristol City is where it is,players that have been played for many matches that are not good enough. SoD I understand does not take prisoners, lets see what he does Saturday. Fielding should be given the Wolves game, another Howler then Parish should be given the shirt.
Christ not sure how old you are but were you watching in the 70s,80s the players today earn fortunes and get away with murder on the pitch. The fans back in the day would crucify you if you did not do the business. The players today would not get away with it.
LF will apparently be fit for the game against Wolves, so we're ok.... SMHBCFC - I like many thousands of others pay my money and am entitled to my own opinions and behaviours providing of course they are within the law. I am not suggesting that you necessarily agree with them or join in, but because we live in a democracy (for now!) I'll do what I like thanks and if someone deserves my criticism they'll get it with both barrels. Red Robin in spot on. Most players today are overpaid, most are certainly over hyped and most have no grasp of reality or how hard people have to work to pay to come and see them go through the motions. Football in this respect has changed, but not for the better. City have a recent history of buying massive under achievers on big money for no positive outcome, and all it's done is put us in the 3rd division.
I can remember Gary Emmanuelle ( ex gas) playing for City at Bournemouth having parts of seats thrown at him by city fans. He was too scared to take a throw in and he left the club that week as he said he feared for his life. But that game is dead and long gone. Cooper and Jordan also were threatened by fans Fans now have the opportunity to use forums for also supporting v negativity.
What utter rubbish.!! apparently he played a major part in turning the game back in our favour on sunday before he went off with an ankle injury?
I would sooner fans bring their frustrations and negativity on to a forum like this where if the players have any sense at all they wont read any of it, than take it to the ground with them each week.
The difference now is that players earn a considerable amount more than anyone in the stands, probably more than a number of them put together if they're high-earners at the club. Hell, even in League 1 we'll still have players earning more than we'll ever earn, and many of them will be bitter that they're slumming it in League 1 when their friends are making much more in the Premier League... The gap between fans and players is exponentially bigger, to the point of no return. Back in the day, the fans were also paying the players wages. They had a justifiable right to be upset, in the same way that we can be upset that our tax is spent on stupid things. It was an insult to the money the fans paid. Now, the insult is there, but the fans no longer hold the power. The fans pay around 25% of the players wages (according to The Secret Footballer), and that's only because clubs want to be able to continue to say that "the fans matter". Sponsors and TV money pay for the club nowadays, along with Steve Lansdown. The players are only bound by duty to care about the fans, and quite frankly if I were a player I probably wouldn't care much what some prick in the stands is shouting at me. I've "made it". The old rules no longer apply. Your complaints are no different to someone complaining about something on the TV.
