Huddlestone always had the potential to be a very good player and he's still at a decent age, but he doesn't suit Villas-Boas' style of play and he needs to start regularly. If Hull use him and Livermore as a base for their midfield and have a bit of pace out wide, then they'll probably cause a few teams some problems. He needs some mobility around him to nullify his biggest weakness and Livermore's not afraid to cover a lot of ground. I'll be keeping an eye on Hull this season, now. Always nice to see those massive 60 yard passes out to feet.
I'd prefer Parker to go to Fulham over QPR it would be a shame to see him drop out of the prem, and BMJ needs decent midfielders badly.
I posted something very similar on their Hudd thread yesterday. Hull are my official new second team in the Prem, with Hudd, Jake and George Boyd (always been my favourite football league player) quite similar to Bale in many ways.
It may work at hull if they build their midfield around him, as for Huddletone to be a success long term, I feel you have to have players who - Do all his running - Do all his tackling - Do all his shooting While allowing Tom to use his skill and sublime range of passing, thats why I can't ever see him being a success at a bigger club over a long period, but he would be great to bring on in a game, call upon for a few games etc but if Hull can set-up their midfield to use his talent then all they need is someone to read his passes and make the right runs. Danny Graham for top scorer
He needs to score a prem goal. I don't think it was linked to Spurs. I hope it was though Bit harsh. His shooting is ok, when he catches them, fantastic. I might put Graham in my fantasy team
it's ridiculous to think that about his shooting though. His strike of the ball is insanely good. unbelievable tekkers. yet he hardly ever had a shot!
He had the worst percentage of shots on target in the prem in the year we qualied for Champs league... So many went hight and wide....but boy did he strike them well!
.. I just had to have a quick look at this stats to remind me, 8 goals in 143 games for us, 95 games for derby county and no goals, but as you say his strike of the ball is insanely good (using you're lingo roo)! he could have been something special but just never fully clicked.
Ronaldo broke some Bournemouth fans arm in preseason. It didn't get mentioned much here because half the Paxton and Park Lane fans were all nursing broken limbs and so were a few of the East and Westies.
Ok, let's see if this works. Change of username to shift some of the cack left in our squad. If it works for SuperPav nee SoSahahahaha nee Huddlefro, can it work for the rest...........
KGM, great new moniker! Best of luck, Hudd. The thing was, with Paulinho, Sandro and Dembele, we had the players to do all his running and tackling for him. And I have the feeling his range of passing could have been just the thing for an Option B, either against teams that sit back, or when we're behind. But people who know more than me evidently think otherwise.
I agree. It's only a few months ago, he came on and turned the game around when we beat Man city at home at the back end of last season. But even Tommy himself has said publicly he wants to start every week and if that means leaving us, then that is what he has to do.
If he's fit i wonder whether he has Rio in mind. He's been in the squad and had cap(s) before. I could see him being in the squad if he has a good season.
It's a shame to see so many of our English players leave. At one point we could field a good home nations side but now..... Just goes to show the paucity of English talent around at the moment and how ridiculous the price of those that are good enough. Spurs need to take the next step up and have to find the talent wherever it may come from at a reasonable price.
Shame to lose Tom Huddlestone, the first time I saw him play for Spurs I thought 'there is a future England regular', his superb passing brought back memories of the great Glen Hoddle. I can't help thinking that it would be great to have THudd on the bench because he can change a game. However, I guess he needs regular starts and he won't find them at Spurs. AVB is building his own team and Huddlestone is obviously not in his plans. However much us fans want to hold on to a little bit of the past our side is going to be an AVB/Baldini team and they will have to answer/bathe in the glory as a result of their choices. Tom has been unlucky with injuries otherwise he might have cemented himself a regular place in the starting eleven. He also had a few weight issues earlier in his career but he seems to have overcome those. I am surprised that he is going to Hull, I think he needs a manager who will push him and De Canio at Sunderland may have been right man to get him to reach his full potential. I hope for his sake he hasn't taken the 'easy option' with Bruce. It wouldn't surprise me if this sale comes back to haunt us, lets pray he doesn't win himself a haircut at WHL, perhaps we should have loaned him (AKA Chavs/Citeh) so he couldn't play against us. I for one will certainly cheer him when he returns to the Lane and wish him all the best for the future. A new challenge might be exactly what he needs.
i should add, he'd be a player that would actually make me tune in for an England game. I can't be arsed watching the current boring, no panache line-ups we put out
I hope so, both for his sake and because I think he'd be a valuable addition. I guess I'd want to play every day too, but I think he can play at a much higher level as a supersub than as a starter.
Once again, i seem to have conveniently timed going to the cinema with an England game being on the box! I've only been about twice in the last year, but managed to accidentally time it perfectly with England matches!
