Young wasn't fit to be in the squad for the Community Shield on Sunday and won't be fit for Saturday. Carrick has an eye infection which also puts his fitness for the weekend in doubt. Both withdrawn on the advice of the England medical staff.
Bit of a coincidence it happens every friendly though isn't it? There should be a rule that if you pull out of an International then you an ineligible for the following game. Bet we'd see a few Utd players playing in friendlies then wouldn't we? Similarly if you are injured for the previous game you shouldn't be called up by england/national side
If you're injured for an international, then you should miss your next club game. Man Utd have taken the piss with this for years. Giggs missed 18 consecutive international friendlies. Disrespectful scumbags.
In this case, I do actually believe they pulled out legitimately. However, they've taken the piss for years with the FA. Time to clamp down (on everything, not just Man U - fergie was just better than anyone else at exploiting the system) - international skivers, fergie time, tapping up, diving, rascism. The lot. Grow some balls.
64 caps over 16 years is a poor return - especially when you add the fact he was "injured" for friendlies for the best part of a decade, and the friendlies he did appear in were only home fixtures. Comapred to Giggs, Bale has 41 Wales caps in seven years, Ashley Williams has 41 in five, Joe Ledley has 46 in eight, and Aaron Ramsey has 26 in five. I can see Bale and Ramsey eclipsing Giggs' total caps sooner rather than later.
Did I miss any mention of Metalist Kharkiv being booted out of the Champions League? They still get an appeal, but that's at least two clubs now who are on death row in the competition. Getting a bit farcical now. Schalke are their next opponents and the club that stand to replace them is our old mates PAOK Thessaloniki, who Kharkiv knocked out in the last round.
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...ootball-news (Daily Express :: Football Feed) Where is Cove, need him to tell us if these 2 "i've never heard ofs" are any good
Bakkali's hot property, but we were linked with Wijnaldum last summer and he had a bit of a stinker, IIRC. I asked Cove about him recently, so I'll see if I can find it.
Found it. It was actually Croydon who asked about him: http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...targets-2013?p=4800325&viewfull=1#post4800325 Ouch.
Messi withdrawn from Argentina squad with thigh strain. Thigh strain? Now that is a lame excuse and virtually impossible to dispute. "Ooh, I've tweaked me thigh, it's a bit sore, club doctor." "Better rest if for a couple of days, Mr Messi. You don't want to aggravate it. I'll ring Mr Sabella right away. I'm sure he'll understand." A least the ankle injury which kept Young out of the Comm. Shield and Carrick's eye infection are genuine injuries.
Wait til tomorrow's Marca. Messi withdrawn from Argentina squad to prevent risk of injury because he's Spurs main target to replace Bale. Lol
Yea that story deserves an update after seeing him play 5 games in a row, because he's back. He may not have the creativity but he has the instincts of a striker. His pace, his finishing and his tactics have gone back to his normal level of play. And his leadership skills and mentality are impressive. This is his first season as captain and so far he has done remarkably well. Especially for a team that average's 21,5 years of age. Now that he is back in form he was bound to draw some attention. With Mertens and Strootman gone he is now stepping his game up and it definitely showed last week in the 5-0 win against NEC. For more on Bakkali look on my web blog on last weeks round in the Eredivisie. I wrote a tiny little report on him. I can't write a full report because I've seen him for five games but he looks like he is going to be the Messi of the Eredivisie at age 17... But like I said, haven't seen enough games to give a real accurate picture of the player. Mainly because he hasn't been properly tested yet, in two weeks PSV are playing AC Milan, after those two games I can give a lot more info. http://thecovereport.sportsblog.com/post/150269/the_week_of_upsets_shocks.html
There are reports in Germany that Paulinho's midfield partner for Brazil, Bayern's Luis Gustavo, has decided to join Wolfsburg. Arsenal were linked with him but it seems that he favours the club that finished 11th in last season's Bundesliga.
That would be hilarious but surely that won't happen. I mean Arsenal can't be that incompetant that they lose out to a midtable club for a much needed signing.
Can't sugar-coat it mate, I tell it like it is. If Wenger doesn't have the funds, Wijnaldum could be an option, but I doubt that moment is now. Maybe next summer when he played a full season.
Apparently the Gustavo to Wolfsburg story was rehashed from a while ago after he expressing an interest in them before Arsenal came in for him. But to be honest, the amount of bluster and guff in the media this summer has gone stratospheric, so I'm just going to reserve any judgement until the third of sept ....
