Always loved watching this. Remember going mental when Joe did it. Best goal of that World Cup by a mile.
Beckham's free kick against Greece and Owen's hat trick against Germany. Not much to choose from over the last 15 years though!
Another game I went to that I really hold in high regard was England 4-2 Croatia at Euro 2004. A fantastic game but I can't find any decent footage of it. EDIT: Found some highlights. Can't embed them as it's on the BBC website. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/euro_2008/7424550.stm
Somehow I don't even remember this. It was a great game looking at that clip. Cole's assist for the winner was awesome! His goal against Sweden was brilliant too. Just what happened to him?
He got a few nasty knee injuries if I recall. Never gave him a chance to fulfill his true potential. Joe was a class player at his peak.
2004 quarter finak And the 2006 quarter final We lost both but stands out as amazing matches full of mixed emotions, i felt hurt. Really hurt. Never felt like that about england since And i hope scotland win tonight
Can't believe nobody has suggested this one...
As far as im concerned, all the english team are direct opponents of hull city, since its just a premiership xi.. Should be renamed that in my opinion If mcgregor concedes 4 goals his confidence won't be as good going into sunday! Keep those bastards out allan! When will we see your like again? That fought and died for
Aha - this transatlantic timing/co-ordination problem works both ways - the wind must have changed..expect heavy rain and gales at tonight's match - if he plays, McGregor will be hanging onto his kilt , so expect England to score a bundle ?
I could be wrong, but I don't think that was on live TV here. So compared to a major tournament, it's hardly a great memory for anyone, despite the brilliance of the goal.
