I'm not sticking up for the clown, but wasn't he playing with a broken rib during the crying episode? Was there any truth in that?

    No pressure then! <laugh>

I just think he needs some bedding in time. With all the changes we have had - Manager, Training ground, 5 CB's, make shift lb's etc - it's bound to take some time to settle.

Once he knows he is number 1, knows the Cb's, can speak English and is comfortable I think we will see the best is yet to come.

I didn't know that and it is some excuse but what sort of man actually cries at that? I've broken numerous bones and i've never cried. Well, maybe i did when i was 4, but since then no.

Broken rib = grimace and a plaster. Fixed :)

Yep, good shout Spurm. I think Clem was better though, and I'm hoping Hugo will get beyond Clem's standards. But it's all about opinions, if people think Erik was better than Clem or Hugo I can easily see that as valid.

You're right that he played through injury, due to our stupidity in not getting a decent back up, and his treatment by many was abysmal. I don't know if the rib was injured in the 'crying game' though.

 Fair comments SG. I think he knows he's the No. 1 now. I won't go over old ground about that though. If he's not No.1 in front of a 42 year old and a rookie that's just let 6 in, then we can all give up on CL now.

Wouldn't Robbo be the best since Big Pat close with Clem from what I remember

    Hi AG,

Robbo was good, solid and generally a nice guy. It also helps that he won a trophy. But he was not a top top keeper. For me he was a bit like brad, solid, could pull of some good saves, but stuck to his line too much, didn't dominate at corners and let in some soft goals.

For instance, CC final vs Chelsea, before Drogs goal he had an identical free kick, and nearly scored. Robbo didn't learn, lined the wall up exactly the same and......bam...in it went.

Still liked him though, and would welcome him back as a number two some time.

Robbo also took a hit in the confidence department too. What is it with us? Had some personal issues too which was unfortunate for him, was his wife ill or something? Not that its really any of our business.

Spurm, I think his confidence took a hit after the England miss kick.

Wasn't really his fault, as it was a poor pass by G Nev and it bobbled on the pitch.

Also I believe his new born was in intensive care at some point.

You're not making it up. He acted like a clown and would roll around feigning injury (at an average of about twice i game i would guess), to the extent that it was an absolute embarrassment. To be honest, I was more pleased to see him dropped for that than for his form.

Broken ribs are a bitch! I've had mine done twice in my Rugby playing days. Unless there's a danger of internal damage, they don't do anything. They stopped strapping people up yonks ago as it can cause lung damage. The last time I had mine done ( 3 fractured, 2 badly bruised) the doctor at the hospital gave me some pain killers and said, " take these when it hurts" I replied, " what do you mean WHEN it hurts!....takes weeks before they stop giving you gip.

    update from the "Twits".

Chiriches deal should still go through at the end of the window.
Coentrao deal isn't happening at present.
Interest in Lamela began a while back, but not as a replacement for Bale. - Simply as an additional signing.
Talks are on going with Halilovic
Carroll has options in the Championship, but Spurs would prefer him to go to a prem club for his development.

I've pulled a muscle in between a couple of ribs. I thought I was having a heart attack. The doctor said I did it during a coughing fit and prescribed the all-healing ibuprofen.

I was embarrassed but didn't cry.

Lamela in and keep Bale is a good plan. Effectively he would be NEW BALE but getting him in and alongside Bale for a season (at least) would at least allow him to avoid that tag and would mean he was fully up to speed by next season.
