Great news. Happy with forwards we have at club (assuming they ARE all fit and I include Sess in those numbers). Just want the long awaited left back and another center mid and I will be happy.

Is your glass half empty sanddancer? The run of hard games is a chance to surprise people and pick up unexpected points (this is my philosophy anyhow!!) :)

Hope Fletcher gets fit quickly - he is a class striker - great touch (reminiscent of Quinny) and looks like a very very good forward.

Probably means PDC will concentrate on a midfielder and LB now. As long as we keep Sess there is no real need to buy another forward as we have 4 decent ones: Sess, Altidore, Fletch, Wickham. Even Johnson can play in the Sess role so I think were covered there.

I was thinking that we would probably play with 1 up front in those games. When the easier games come along we could then revert to Fletcher and Jozy leading the charge.

Well Paolo did say he'd taylor tactics for opponents. Hard to say what he'll do formations wise as most of our hard games are at home first half of the season. But I'm sure our style of play will be patient and disciplined making the opponents chase the ball if at all possible then heap the pressure on last quarter and use our fitness levels against them.

I don't think we'll play 2 up top a great deal this season - it seems to be a dying formation now for some reason - live in hope of being proved wrong though and, as Bri says, tailoring tactics depending upon the opposition could be a good thing.

Just want the season starting!!!!! Can't bloody wait

All this forward crack from Italy is just agents drumming up fake interest to alert other clubs and make them move as everyone knows Juve have too many strikers (if thats ever possible) after the Tevez and Llorente signings.

Good news on fletcher but I wont be expecting to see him back to his best until after Xmas, missing the entire pre-season alone will knock his recovery back another month really, cant wait to see the lad back though!

Defo mate, but from the sound of it he still hasn't kicked a ball and all his training is fitness based so that's a good thing. Probably the same way Paolo has got Brown fit.

Let's hope the sweaty socks don't want him back in September for the world cup qualifiers.

not too many playing 2 up front nowadays, 4-4-2, out and out wingers, seems a thing of the past, 4-5-1 is the norm
We need to not rely on 1 man to score, all midfielders have to chip in in the modern game, signings we;ve made look like they atre capable of getting a few but time will tell
Cabral, Giacchi, Johnson, Sess is where we need to look for a fair total, odd pearler from Gardner and maybe Seb will have found his range again
TBH can;t wait to see what we can do

Don't really understand where all our midfield goals disappeared to last year. The season before we only stayed up because the midfield scored 5-7 goals each. We need that more often

I know exactly why. The only fullback support which came from rose was for McClean, on the otherside Johnson was played too deep by MoN and Gards was substandard support for him. Catt's role was filled by alfie who was a box to box so he was played out of position and larsson was played out of position and expected to support the front men. In essence too many players playing out of position with no way to connect defence with attack which is no good at all as we were supposed to be set up as a counter attacking team. Add that to a complete lack of quality and depth and a bunch of defenders who can't pass a ball to save their lives. And breath....

Fletcher is a class act imo.

When he is ready to go and fully fit, Sunderland are twice the attacking threat with him playing. Fancy him to get 15+ this season with a monster like Jozy to play off.

With a full season, free of injuries, I would expect him to get 20+ goals. He got 12 in 20 in a poor team. With a more skilful attack minded team he should get more imo. I think Jozy might get 10+ but with a lot of assists. Hope so anyway.

Excited about Jozy for Saturday now.

He doesn't take my as a troublemaker like. If there's been a problem I'm sure he'll apologize and keep his head down and work hard. Not everyone is a dickhead like Bardo.
